Quick and dirty mod for EarthRise Megatron. I did this to both my regular retail version and the selects G2 version. I’m using my G2 version for photos.

the pop off cannon/sword piece is actually 2 halves held together with 1 screw, and 2 tiny glued in tabs. All I did was take the screw out, & break the tabs right off in their posts. This separates the sword from the cannon. The sword half has the folding post which works perfectly for it. Then I did a little minor inside work for the folding post piece - there’s inner moldings that keep that post nice and tight. I cut that piece out and glued it in the hole it slots into. Next I just added a 5mm post where the screw went, and widened the screw hole to 5mm. That way they can peg back together. Easy peasy.
For my G2 Megatron, I also added a 5mm hole in the backpack treads, to give him that G2 look.

Nice! I did this with my Earthrise Megatron a couple months ago the day I opened him...the weapon is THAT bad! I kept the sword post moveable, though, because then it can peg onto his back for storage.

Your shoulder cannon makes G2 Megs look way better!

Me too. Just got around to posting some pix. My sword post(s) still moves just like it did when combined with the cannon. I was contemplating making the new cannon post on a hinge as well, so it could raise up & down on his shoulder. Or possible give the tank turret some up/down articulation. But I decided to go the easier route for now.

    Thanks!
My other initial idea was to try to splice the Siege sword with the ER tank turret bits and cannon, but they aren’t the same size/shape/length. This was a much easier alternative.

Nice work! That's how it should have been built all along.

Thanks. I actually believe this -or something close to it- was the original plan for the toy. But for whatever reason Hasbro fused them together. Probably something like reducing parts counts
