This one feels like about as hard to call as a boxing match between Mike Tyson and Stephen Hawking

Universe Ratchet: What I swear 9but of course have no evidence of) was a repurposed movie mould that's stuck looking downward. But at least he was a decent suspected movie mould and only $10 US.

IGear Ratchet: Actually looks like Ratchet. But is essentially a $100 voyager with a crapton of utterly useless accesories. If I want a weapons pack I'll buy a weapons pack, not a $100 figure who's historical compariots' trait is their distict lack of heavy armament. What does Ratchet need? Maybe a couple of tools, a pistol and thse neato extra heads. Not two of every tool (what, is he supposed to use both of each at once?) and two almost identical bazookas/rifles. If fact, the only weapon he should have two of is his pistol based off his dual-weilding death in TF:TM, of which he's only given one. The fuck?

Still, we've needed a good G1 Ratchet forever.

This, but Mike Tyson also has a baseball bat. And Steven Hawking is blindfolded and facing the wrong direction.

be careful when you make these polls not to use the photos from the back of the hasbro packaging. those are misleading. i have noticed many of them have superior color/paint etc on the back of the package and when you get them in hand they look dull and boring.

...i sold my universe ratchet for $70 before buying igear's.

If you're gonna do this, and crow about how 3P is 'Kicking HasTak's ass', why not compare similar price points?

Why not iGear Ironhide vs Masterpiece Sideswipe? Or Faith Leader vs MP-10 (Hasbro version). Or MMC Cyclops vs MP-11?

Comparing a $100 premium collector figure aimed at the Masterpiece grade to an off-the-shelf $10 deluxe aimed at the 6-12 market isn't exactly a fair comparison.

and he forgot to charge his chair.

Because other than FL vs MP10, those aren't the same characters?
I'm sure if Takara gives us MP Ironhide, we'll see a thread like this on igear's weapon specialist vs MP Ironhide.

I dunno if I'd call Universe Ratchet *widely* distributed. He was stuck in the last couple waves with Hot Shot and Smokescreen. I personally, never saw one on store shelves. I was satisfied with Henkei Ratchet at the time, but its kind've a generic mold with a needlessly convoluted transformation scheme that leaves the vehicle mold full of strangely cut lines.

While I don't doubt the superiority of a far more expensive collector item I will probably never own, in what way does Universe Ratchet NOT look like Ratchet? Vehicle mode is iffy, but robot mode has most to all the basic checklist items of Ratchet's cartoon model, certainly not any less than 90 percent of official 'Classics-verse' lines toys and lots of third party items, anyway.

I have both. The Hasbro version has the extra spine which looks a little weird, but there's not reason he can't be a good stand in. In all honesty, I just like the iGear look more. It's cleaner and resembles Ratchet almost perfectly, plus all the bonus items.

I do have to agree with the person who mentioned that iGear's version isn't quite an apple to apple comparison.

I bought mine from Rite Aid a couple of years ago...surprise find. They had a Silverstreak and a couple of Classics Dinobot. The two Dinobots sat there for a while, so I decided to pick one up too :p .
