How does EE handle pre-orders in terms of getting free shipping? Like, if you pre-order enough to pass the threshold, does it still qualify for free shipping even if the items have different release dates? Or do free shipping and preorders just not mix there?

In my experience, they pretty much don't mix. If you preorder a bunch of stuff to get the free shipping, but any of that ends up shipping separately because it gets released early... you're going to find yourself charged for shipping each time. Plus, the one time that happened to me, since I had originally chosen the free shipping EE chose the new form of shipping when they split my order up which ended up not being a very fun experience with UPS.

They operate like Amazon--- Make one big fat pre-order and they ship stuff out to you as items come in stock and you only get hit with shipping charges once (if applicable), and they only charge when items ship. Shipping might be prorated between the items, but you won't pay more than what the final cost is stated on said fat pre-order.

Weird. If I pre-order like 5 items with different ship dates and free shipping, I usually get the 5 items separately, and never been charged shipping.

Hmm, interesting. Thanks guys! Sounds like it's not consistent. Maybe I'll try it out one of these days to see how it works for me, and if I get charged shipping.

    Thanks for the replies!

The incident I'm referring to happened over five years ago and I've only purchased in-stock items from them since so it's entirely possible that things have changed in that time when it comes to how they handle preorders.

Maybe others can verify, but I never had any additional shipping charges added despite having items ship out at different times on the same order.

Ah, I've only been using EE since maybe ~mid 2018.

I know in ~past year they extended the pre-order being a single item over $79 that gets free shipping, to any x amount/combo of pre-order items that total over $79 also gets free shipping. I think.

Currently EE has free shipping if your have in-stock items of $79+ in value. If you mix in pre-orders, they'll ship free as well, even if they come in at different times.

Interesting. I know I tried ordering 4 Airwaves to get to the $79 but it added shipping ($12!). Such a weird year that nothing is really in stock it’s all preorders for month after month.

I don't think this is true. I get charged extra for the non in stock items, unless I have over $79 of preorders as well and they qualify for the preorder free shipping.

They also have some weird one off deals. For instance, I wanted to buy the Marvel Legends Cuckoos from them, but they have their own free shipping threshold that is separate from other preorders, and I'm not going to order four of them just to get free shipping.

Their free super saving shippings also sucks...unless you happen to live near EE.

Newgistics, which is the worst domestic option I have ever used, is what they use and takes 2 weeks to deliver.

Airwave is not in stock. Shows pre-order. So, yeah, you'll still get charged for shipping.

You might want to check in with them. I've ordered stuff from them before, and pre-orders shipped free, as long as the in-stock order quota was satisfied.

Earthrise wave 2 deluxe set shipped late last night. I still won't believe these toys are real until they're actually in my hands.

Correct. It’s just a bit of a head scratcher that I can preorder a “wave 2” set with Airwave and I get free shipping. If I preorder all 4 figures individually, I meet the $79 threshold and pay the same price but I’ll pay for shipping. I understand why, but it’s a little less convenient.

Could it be because they have a glitch in their system. I've already received the ER Wave 2 deluxes from them last week.

EE also has this unfortunate tendency not to list in stock items as in stock...which is annoying.

Likewise. I’ve never been charged more than once for shipping (on items that didn’t hit the free shipping threshold). It’s never been broken up for me as far as shipping charges go, even when items I ordered together shipped separately because of back-order or what have you.
