Surprisingly, there's no Energon Starscream in the review index. I guess this guy's just too old eh? It took me some years, but finally tracked him down, and here are mein thoughts of this toy, amidst scores of new and exclusive and relevant toy reviews by other forum goers. Hehe, Semi-Retro forevah dawg!

    Ahem, so here's Energon Starscream.

Energon Starscream has been a favorite of mine for what seems like a long time now.

It's took me this long to finally find him, I totally missed out on Energon, toywise.

Yeah, I'd love to get the G1 repaint. Heck, I'd love if they re-release this in all the Seeker colors.

What I coincidence, I've been debating adding Energon Starscream to the things I need to look out for on ebay.

This review helped sell him to me. Thanks!

    One of my favorite Starscreams.

I'm surprised nobody has repainted him into an IDW-mode Starscream yet.

Yeah, surprised we don't have the whole Seeker set with him yet. Although since the Classics Seeker mold's been done, there isn't as great an urgency.

    Yes, we all do.

He's a bloody fantastic mold and I think one that should have been used at the tail end of last movie line (when we were getting assorted repaints of AEC toys).

Energon Energon Starscream is close enough, no?

One of the best figures out of the entire Unicron Trilogy. And the best, IMO, Starscream of that era as well. The Decepticons during Energon had the advantage when it came to figures, as Starscream is a testament to. For those who missed out, I'd definitely recommend if and when you get a chance, to get this figure.

Yeah, granted, there wasn't much competition, but he's probably the best Starscream of that era.

Yeah, a shame we don't see it much. Although they did do the 2009 Botcon thing I guess.

Okay now that I've got some spare time on my hands I'm ready to hit up the feedback thread with all my recent purchases.

In fairness, I bought Starscream when he first came out here in 2004 (?), but got my hands on the G1 based repaint about a year ago, which since then has been sitting in a place of pride on my shelf in the Classics section (I relegated Classics Starscream to my 'assorted' shelf because I dislike that mold).

The mold is generally solid in both modes. The only part that feels slightly iffy is getting the arms back into the rear of the jet mode which changing back from robot mode. The Jet is based on an F22 but doesn't nail the look as much as the Classics seeker mold foes the F15, or Cybertron Thundercracker does the Su-34 (bearing in mind that they aren't licensed of course). That can be explained in that Energon was a line returning to more realistic looking alt modes (compared to Armada) but still incorporated some sci fi elements/artistic license. On the 'Energon' repaint the colours are resoundingly G1 - and gone is the translucent plastic that was part and parcel of Energon (although the Japanese release has clear blue parts). There's an average amount of undercarriage kibble here, but none of it is blatantly robot mode stuff when you look at it from below.

Robot mode is good - there are multiple G1 homages present in the mold (and accentuated in the repant) - the head, the shoulder intakes, the colouring, although the colours aren't dead on due to the nature of the recolour. My main criticism of this mode is that the arms cannot be move all the way up without deploying the wings are rocket launchers, but that's really only a small issue.

The only other criticism I have of this mold are the weapons - they're nice but I feel something that was a little bit more streamlined and less chunky would have been nice.

Overall this gets a solid 9/10 from me - great colours, great mold, great homage, great toy.

    I have him.

His weapons feel like a weird choice but he's a really cool figure.
I always wanted the G1 repaint though.

use your own photos for the repaint review. don't steal seibertrons, and DEFINATELY don't go hotlinking them. that's just wrong.
