I've just bought a MOC Energon Slugslinger, one of the worst TF toys I've ever hold in my hands. Although there were many great toys in the Energon line IMHO, this one has such atrocious engineering that it's almost insulting.
The spaceship mode looks neat (especially the colors, and the clear yellow cockpits on the hulls are a nice touch), but otherwise this toy is a mess of wobbling pieces that do not fit together.
The robot mode looks way too angular for its own sake and has so much kibble (especially the arms) that it's ridiculous.
Also, the plastic is so light and cheap-looking that it ends up looking like one of those awful bootlegs.. a disaster, pure and simple.
It'd be interesting to read your comments on this one...

He's not that bad to me. He pays homage to the original G1 slugslinger nicely. Jet mode for the most part is solid and looks nice displayed. The robot mode lacks a little but I think he can pull off some great poses and other than the stupid gritting smile, I like the detail in the face, especially the eye. He was just used for filler in the toys although they did'nt need it as Energon already had lots of toys, and most of them had tons of kibble

It's not that bad. The transformation is a bit too complex I agree but modes are worth it. I especially like the asymetrical face, which is a nice twist. Also couldn't disagree more on the plastic: most of the time when people don't like the choice of grey unpainted plastic they say its cheap, which is not necessarily true. You want to see cheap grab a modern deluxe from Walmart or Target and compare it to ole' Slugslinger...

I agree with Dark Gundam and Slugslinger2004. Energon Slugslinger is one of my favorite figures from that line. He has, hands down, my favorite face-sculpt ever! I agree that in vehicle mode he doesn't hold together as well as many other figures and that in robot mode his joints are hindered by vehicle mode pieces but in my opinion the aesthetics of both modes outweigh those issues. Ironically, since they weren't in the show, he and Sharkticon are my two favorite figures from Energon.

This is one of the Energon molds I really want. Just because of how unique he looks.

Vehicle mode is a little floppy, but it's one of my favorite transformations of all time. He practically explodes and then clips back together into an awesome looking bot mode. But hey, to each their own.

A single post, and that's what it is? Interesting. If it said Slugslinger was also hollow, I would've suspected satire and trolling. :)

Can't say I disagree though. Slugslinger Is around the top of my Energon dislike list. (and i like Grimlock, so that says something) It hammers on my pet peeve for needlessly complicated toys (parts go all over the place and end up in the same place they were in vehicle mode.) Makes me sad that was the mold TFCC used for the club pre-beast Airazor toy.

I actually love Slugslinger, he has a very involved transformation and looks cool and unusual in both modes. He could be a bit sturdier, but he's nowhere near as bad as people make him out to be.

Here he is with my other modern era Decepticon jets (photo taken mid-2011):

He's currently in storage so I can't take any better photos :(

I'd like to see Energon Slugslinger repainted with a new head as G1 Slugslinger...

Okay, I sold mine so maybe I'm not the best judge, but I found him to be quite an interesting figure. Sure, he is not as solid as could be, but I found him to be a very interesting design.

If they do then I'll probably buy it. I do hope they include a repaint of Cyclonus his targetmaster gun.

Hey man, that f22 on the right side...what is that? I had a starscream of that mold..I LOOOOOOVED that one. It had a big blue/green sword and gun, and it was one of the best transformers I had at that time.

Was that emerging starscream? If so what are all the repaints of that mold? I really want to that that one back.

Oh..and I had slugslinger...I loved him, but the jet was just floppy. Wish I had it back now I have the power of future.

There really needs to be more unconventional vehicle alt modes, especially in overused categories (i.e. jets, cars).

I have the Airazor version from the club. It's one of the very small number of Transformers that I can't ever remember how to transform.

I love Slugslinger, I display him on my Classic's shelf as Slugslinger. Mine's not loose, and holds his alt-mode realy good. Of course, that required a small amount of clear nail polish, but what does that matter, I mean so does pretty much everything these days.

around here in my local group of TF collecting friends, Slugslinger is essentially a swear word...... Just tossing that out there.
