Is he worth $60 that he's going for on ebay? I'm a bit tempted to pick one up.

Plus whose arms did you rip off to replace his with?

There are a few different options for arms to replace his with. I know of at least 4 other sets of arms that can be made to fit.

Depends on if you are good at modding and painting however.

Some pics would help to show us what your wanting as an end result.

Oh and also I really like energon shockblast :D

No, he isn't worth the $60 on eBay... unless you want a MISB one.

Looking at completed listings, you can get one for about $25 if you are patient and don't impulsively hit Buy it Now.

On a second look through eBay... even $60 for a MISB is overpriced. You could get one for about $45... but if you ARE looking to customize one, there are plenty of loose ones in the $20-to-$30 range.

There's often custom ones on there - then you have no need to wreck a genuine one yourself.

I've seen someone use Classic Prime's arms. I mean I just want him to have proper arms. It doesn't even have to be a gun arm. For starters, how about arms that will fit in his original shoulder pads?

I have a bit of OCD, so yeah I kinda want a MISB. But I suppose it won't hurt to wait, $60 some does sound crazy.

    Ebay:
I actually just got one on eBay for 25. Doing this same thing. I've been looking at a ton of different arms trying to determine what's going to be a part of my first major custom work.

Personally, I'm just fine with the arms he comes with.

Yeah, the giant cannon lacks elbow articulation, but quite frankly, it looked silly as hell in the show when it did articulate. Doesn't prevent him from getting into some badass poses, especially with all his solar panels and fins all flared out like he's charging up a tactical nuke-level blast. And giving him smaller, more G1-accurate arms takes away from the awesomeness of his orbital killsat mode.

Is it a simple arm switch or did you alter the shoulders?

    Ebay:
Not quite simple, but easily do able to anyone that can use the tools, use the lager shoulderpiece from the sixshot figure (same as shockwave) and disassemble a Scattorshot for his arms, the bicep part of the arms need to be sanded thinner about a 1/4 inch to work. But it still keeps it ratchetablity, then I just glued Scattorshots cannon to the back side of the folded in fist. I wanted to use all scattorshot parts so as not to ruin another figure. my next step was to look for some tubing that will look nice from backpack (or shoulder, havent decided) to forearm. and then paint. also just to be clear, Wasnt my idea I saw someone else do it and it looked nice.

EDIT: this might need to be moved to the Customs thread.

I'd say he's worth $60 MISB. It's been 8 years since the toy was at retail, with a shrinking number available because of all the customs done. Supply is dropping, and demand is still there as there's little equivalent for a "Classics" Shockwave, unless you want a short, skinny FOC Shocky.

As far as the arms go-

I used CD Red Alert/Countdown's arms. You'll have to rig the shoulders for it to work, but it isn't the most difficult thing (considering I figured it out).

I like these arms over CD Scattorshots or Jetfire's because of the beefy look of these on him. I've seen others with Classics Optimus or Megatron's arms, and while looking nice, I just can't get it out of my head that they're Optimus or Megatron's arms.

EDIT: Oh duh. The gun arm. That's from a KO Shockwave (the triggerpenis one), again rigged- attached to a post fit into the swivel joint space for the hand.

Haha that's why I asked his worth, too.

Thanks for the replies guys. Plenty of options now. I still wouldn't know how to "rig" it until I get CD Red Alert. Which Optimus/Jetfire/Megatron were the ones used on the ones you've seen?
