Always liked this figure, but felt he was lacking. Short torso, needs shoulder swivel. Lengthened his torso, gave him a waist swivel, and ball jointed his hips so they could splay further.

Ball jointed his shoulders. They broke because of GPS, and articulating them doesn't really do much for his posability, it turns out. Oh well. Also made his cannons slide out further.

Nice! You're at it again! :)

One of the shoulder connectors cracked on my Scorponok too (not all the way through. The joint still holds... for now. Never occurred to me that it would be GPS, but you're probably right. That's bad news... I wonder if Dark Scorponok's joints would have the same problem (they have a metallic sheen as well).

I looked at all the other versions of this mold and they all have a bronze plastic there. Just going to have to overhaul it. I really hate doing hinge joints, too. I also reworked his cannons so they slide out further. This is going to be really useful when he has shoulder swivel.

Did what I set out to do. Might bulk up his torso and cover his shoulder joints some day.

What about the blue cannons in his shoulders?

What blue cannons? There's a panel in there, but it's just decoration.

not to resurect this old thread for something so trivial, but just as a little fun fact, while the plastic looks the part, the shoulders don't actually have gold plastic in them! I'ts just a really high tension joint and a really thin panel, you can do a preventative fix by disasembling the shoulders, going in with a 3/16 drill but, and just opening them up a little. Takes some of the pressure off of the weirdly thin front plate.

I'm not convinced that this isn't a GPS case. I disassembled a couple of these, and released the tension on those brassy hinge joints that hold the arms to the body, but the plastic was still very brittle (more than it should be).

I do agree that high tension of the joints makes it worse. I haven't been able to confirm this, but I suspect that there is something in that metallic plastic (GPS stuff) that probably warps or expands over time. In many GPS situations I've personally encountered, joints that used to be fluid have turned scary tight, and with the weakening of the plastic it takes very little force to crack them.

Wow really surprised to see this old thing pop up. If it's not gps, then are all the other Scorponok molds breaking, too? Agree that it might not be gps because the other gold plastic didn't break when I had him.

I pick this guy up quite a while back and he had the same problem....I am now curious what you used for the joints and if you can still get them????

I have two Hasbro Scorponoks and they both broke.

I really wish some company would make like die-cast versions of those gold parts. I've tried gluing and reinforcing them but they always break. I just want my Scorponok back. :(

My advice? Avoid jet mode. That's almost a guaranteed break because of the really heavy detents moulded into the plastic.
