So I got an Energon Dreadwing as part of a trade today. Pretty good figure.

Does anyone have a pic/the instructions to make that Starscream/BB (or whoever you want them to be)-esque combination with Dreadwing/Mirage and Energon Starscream?

Feel free to use this as a Mirage/Dreadwing appreciation thread. I don't really mind if it's hijacked so long as it's about Mirage/Dreadwing.

I'm yet to transform Dreadwing without popping something off. I think I have it and then BAM! I don't know what's going on again.

mirage is super awesome. along with sharkticon and slugslinger I think he was one of the most redeeming figures of the energon line.

Galvatron was a great homage, and Shockwave was a neat idea if a bit hampered, but Mirage/Dreadwing was definitely the high point of the entire line. A rarely used alt mode, a complex transformation, a unique looking bot mode and face, highly articulate, well-armed, and in the case of the repaints, you get the choice of 2 wildly different color schemes depending on your preference. I went with Dreadwing, assuming it was a Scourge/Sweeps homage.

This, along with Shockwave were the best toys in the whole of Energon to me.

Yup, Mirage is easily one of the best molds from the A/E/C toylines even with the kibble and fiddly bits. I wish I hadn't passed up Dreadwing.

I liked most of the Energon Decepticons honestly. Unlike the Autobots they were well designed toys that weren't hindered by some strange desire to have every toy combine into some absurd looking, hideously misproportioned, kibble laddened monstrosity.

If it weren't for the "super link" gimmick in that line, Energon would have been absolutely amazing.

Does anyone have pics/instructions to get the "dragon mode" I remember seeing?

This thing is just dripping with awesomeness... The fact it does a damn good job fitting with the movie stuff is a free bonus.

I have Dreadwing. I really like his color scheme and he really is a fantastic toy. Very super-articulated, and I still dig his over-the-shoulder cannon assembly with the deploying sound effect.

Unless I'm being forgetful, I've never heard of this. Someone have pics?

I think it was off of a Japanese image board. The final product looked/functioned something like this http://www.tfu.info/1998/Destron/BB/combinedmode.jpg but it used Mirage and E Starscream. I'd try to figure it out but my Starscream is MIA and I'm not creative enough to do that stuff.

Agreed with everyone who thinks these are great figures. Pretty slick. With the boat halves folded upwards like wings, this design takes on an almost Mephistophelean theatricality... which is only accentuated by Dreadwing's gothy decos.

Though I'm a little disappointed at Dreadwing's bluish-green tint, rather than the grey that it appears as in the official pics.

I'd never heard about a combined fan-mode with Starscream, but I'd be interested to see it. I do know about the Energon Starscream/Divebomb combo mode... yeesh, that Starscream's just running around combining with everyone. What a slut, eh? :)

I don't have Dreadwing, but I do have Mirage, and I love the design. He just looks.... SO damn mean.
D00d, SHHHHHHHH. Don't give the dodgy fanfic people even more ideas than they already have... ;)

that happens alarmingly often in Hasbro's box art. Re: Alternators Prowl and the horrible blue color vs packaging pics. There was a 3rd example too but I cant recall it at the moment. I honestly believe someone in the coloring department is color blind, so when they're handed a grey order they just pump in baby blue plastic.

Hmm... I'm not so big on the spaceship mode combo, but the Dragon mode is surprisingly cool!

It looks almost like it could be an official mode. I'm not sure what that says about Transformers' history of dodgy official modes, but still.... ;)

I think it's a very nice figure, I don't have it yet, but is seriously underrated.
