Werewolf mode is pretty awesome. How is the articulation on this guy?

 

By the looks of the pics, it might have some thigh and upper arm swivels, wrist articulation, some foto articulation and no head articulation.

I do wonder if there's hollowness under his forearms or it has 5mm ports?

 

Maybe the rumored Skull Cruncher will look more like a wolf and balance things out.

 

I think it's the color that makes it look like an alligator if you don't see it in hand.

 

Ball joints in the shoulders and hips
Swivels at the biceps and thighs
Hinge knees and elbows
Ball jointed wrists and Universal ankles
Wolf head can open its mouth and pivot up and down at the base of the neck and the base of the skull.

He’s really only missing a neck swivel in robot mode.

The backs of the forearms are hollow.

Not paying that for a cyberverse toy
( since even though the quality is higher now, it’s still low quality compared to earthrise)

 

These toys are slowly turning into what looks very much like the  Cybertron Galaxy line from the Unicron trilogy. I could see this as a Jungle Planet ultra class figure. So far him amd WildWheel are really piquing my interest.

 

The werewolf form reminds me of a rhyme

Dang this might be my first and only Cyberverse purchase, overall it looks much better than the deluxe.

 

So how does the armor trigger, do you have to take the cape and the wolf head off?

 

not a fan of the armor-up gimmick, but I\'m getting him for the awesome wolf mode...

the were-bot mode is not official, is it?

 

i like it. it looks more wolf-like

his deluxe figure looks more like a wolverine to me, not a bad thing mind you, but not a wolf.

granted i'll get both but this one might end up my 'main'

 

Give it some head and waist articulation and it'll be a perfect figure.

 

Just picked one up at the local target. You have to take the cape off for the armor to clear. The armor gimmick triggers when you take the wolf head off.

Imo, somehow he manages to be awesome and suck at the same time.
Awesome:
Cool design; I like that the tail is a sheath rather than a sword
The energon armor isn't super obtrusive (you can just straight-up ignore its existence if you want)
Transformation that's a little more complex than I thought. (but it's still basically the same as the armor-up cheetor)
crazy articulation for an Ultra

Sucks:
The cape MUST BE REMOVED to do the armor but they don't make it easily removable (this is the worst part, and would not be a hassle if you didn't have to apply a stupid amount of force to get it to clip in. Ironically, you can transform him just fine with the cape on)
You have to pull the wolf head off the chest to make the armor work
Floppy hips

I shaved the pegs on my cape down so it came on and off easily, but like.... I dunno. He's cool. I'm glad I have him, but he's kinda weird.

 

I'll have to watch the show, but given his wolf head mounts to his sword I'm guessing he pops that off to deploy his sword and go into armor mode.

 

the wolf head does detach for sword mode in the show but the energon armor isn't even in the show.

 

Energon Armor is in the show, just Thunderhowl doesn't seem to use it.

 

No, he "does" but it's more subtle.

In his first transformed appearance, he has a facemask that resembles the Ultra's helmet, and his shield looks a lot like the Energon Armor on his chest




But his "resting" mode is with the mask off.



Compare that to his Deluxe figure:



The helmet mostly matches the in show look, adding eyes instead of a solid visor. He also has his back/shield and sword. Since nobody's seen this guy in person it's hard to know if the wolf head will deatch...or if he has cape detailing on his back when the shield is removed (I would wager it's at least molded in detail covered up by the back plate).

But that explains the differences in the two toys. Both are accurate, one just lets you simulate his "battle mode" from the show and the other comes that way out of the box.

Given both are at the same price point, people looking for screen accuracy have two choices. One gives you a more screen accurate look with a few compromises to his accessories, and the other gives you the accessories but compromises on the colors a bit (likely for style points)

 

wait, it is? did i completely miss that episode or just block it out of my mind?

 

I like it, but the color with a red cape keeps reminding me of King K Rool.
