According to Deadline, a sequel is finally happening: Disney Casts 'Enchanted 2' Spell With 'Smurfs' Scribes - Deadline.com I don't care who's writing it. The idea of a sequel makes me happy beyond reason. I was surprised how much I dug Enchanted and it made me an Amy Adams fan for life. James Marsden playing the Prince Charming role he was born to play didn't hurt either and I hope he comes back. If Alan Menken and Stephen Schwartz come back for the songs my pants will literally explode.
I wonder where they will go with the story. Will it still be a mix of animated and live action? I'm a little skeptical about the idea of a sequel until I hear more, however I really liked Enchanted and if it is as good as the first one I'll be happy.
I'm with you. I don't know how they're gonna be able to do a sequel... unless it's with a whole new cast, and a few small cameo roles. jD001
I'm sure Disney knows what they're doing. They're not going to greenlight a sequel seven years after the original movie on a whim. After Enchanted happened the studio said they're ready to talk sequel, but Iger and Lasseter are cautious guys and won't jump into franchise territory as fast as his predecessors without a solid gameplan. So either they now have some (or all) of the returning actors locked or they've got a solid treatment featuring a new cast ready to go to script.
I really enjoyed the first Enchanted. Amy Adams was awesome in it, and James Marsden was really funny. It had a lot of charm, and I hope they can bring that back in the sequel. I am worried that the writers of The Smurfs are doing it.
Holy hell, I loooovveed the first film, really hope that the main cast return for this (and if Idina Menzel returns, make her sing for pete's sake whywouldyoucastherinamusicalandnotmakehersing) Not keen on the writers they've chosen though.... the Smurfs, Are we there yet, Daddy Day Care?? Ehhhhhhh, don't know what David Weiss has done though
I forgot she was in the first one. I really hope she has a bigger role in the sequel and that she gets another big musical number because she rules.
Considering the success of Frozen and Let it Go, they'd be bloody morons if they got Menzel back and didn't get her to sing. Seriously though, I remember watching Enchanted for the first time and upon seeing her, thought "holy hell, Idina Menzel, I can't wait to hear her sing!" only to sit through the entire film repeatedly thinking "ok she's gonna sing now right? Right??"
But since this thread has been ongoing since 2014, wouldn't this be the one that has priority? Maybe a good thread merger is in order.
