everyone says optimus is dull and shows no emotions or feelings but i think thats in acurate. everytime i watch Prime he seems to have all kinds of facial expressions. even at the end of "Our Darkest Hour" i felt so bad for what was happening to him and his team.

anyway im not trying to create a rage thread just wanted to post my opinion. thanks for listening

He is sorta emotionless, but at times he will show a lot of emotion, you are right.

He sometimes shows emotion, but I still find him boring and uninteresting. Most of his lines are monotonous narrating. Like, he rages at Starscream at getting the keys, but two seconds later he goes back to "STARSCREAM HAS THE KEYS NOW, AND HE CAN DO WHAT HE WANTS NOW GUISE" in a typical monotone Peter Cullen voice. Blech. The only time I liked him was during the Orion Pax arc. Even in WFC and the movies the voice has more range.

People say he's serious and stoic but being serious and stoic != being monotone and repeating tired quotes all the time. Movie Optimus Prime is stoic and serious (I'd even argue he's more serious than Prime Optimus) yet he isn't as boring as this one is.

Agreed. But I guess that's just his character in Prime. An emotionless Autobot

Peter Cullen is still best OP, though, I don't blame him but the writers for making him emotionless, they don't write much room in for his emotion.

I just try to ignore it and think that he is haunted by the ghosts a of the civil war (metaphorically however).

He is not emotionless and he is not without a personality. They are just toned down because he has to keep his emotions under control and be serious. I love him the way he is and I wouldn't change a thing about him. He is by far the best Optimus incarnation ever.

    Pretty much^

Like, there's a difference between being emotionless & being less expressive with said emotions, especially when you're in a position of leadership and going through some pretty hard shit to say the least.

He seems more war hardened than most Optimus Primes. I think what he needs is some flashbacks to some tragic events to explain why he's so cut off from his friends.

I'll take this Optimus over one that is cracking jokes left and right to get more people to like him.

Stoic Optimus is the right Optimus for the show. They are, by all accounts, the last of their kind. They do not know where their brethren are in the galaxy or how many of them still remain. Megatron and his forces are hunting them into extinction.

With only seven of his kind alive, that we know of, his temperament is better than I would expect it should be.

Nope. He's so dull it comes off like a parody of trying to sound like serious writing. Everything he and Ratchet say is just entirely too verbose.

Really? Ratchet doesn't come off as too wordy to me, or from what I can remember. Plus his emotions come out waaay more often than Prime, can't really see them in the same category there.

But to OP, Prime is emotionlessin a sense, but I like him that for this series. Like many have said, the Autobots are low on numbers, both on earth and perhaps in the whole galaxy and to top it off, he has to care for the millions of humans on the world they have taken refuge on. He has no time to show emotion and really, as much as I love Gary Chalk, his Prime is just too ...goofy for this kind of show.

Besides, Prime shows his emotions when he needs to in this show, which makes it stand out and have more meaning IMO, but w/ez!

He's made himself this way after millions of years of loss and war. This is probably the second most realistic Optimus (Movie at first) because he actually shows a lasting and defining personality thanks to the war.

^I would of thought after seeing Cybertron die, fighting in a war against somebody he thought as a friend once, and seeing all those bots die in battle would had driven him mad. As the Joker once said "All it takes is one bad day to reduce the sanest man alive to lunacy." Prime had several, he really should of cracked years ago given all he has seen.

I know with Beast Machines, Optimus Primal nearly went insane and was removed from command a couple of times from just seeing countless sparkless bodies and thinking it was his fault for it.

I kinda like his stoic nature, if only because I profusely enjoy the moments when it cracks :)

Exactly my thoughts. He's a calm and collected leader-type. He can't be getting excited over every little thing. He's the voice of reason, basically. And I love him that way.

Oh man Optimus can be so funny because he's such a stick in the mud.

Like the scene where he goes "hey wanna see something funny?" No!

and when he is in the Starhammer with Wheeljack he's so cramped and he's twiddling his thumbs.

    that's so damn funny.

I just wished he could have been able to be a bit more interesting interaction wise but man he was funny when the moment wasn't meant to be.

He is the Prime, so he hide all of his emotions. But he do have emotions.
