Well that's a fairly good track record she has there... so I guess that's some reason for optimism. However her 'overseeing' the Transformers and G.I. Joe movies won't be as a producer, she's the new boss at Paramount and will therefore 'oversee' all Paramount movies. So it's hard to say how much difference this will actually make.

 

Fingers crossed she'll be able to let good movies be good movies

I am personally excited to see more news on new transformers and ji joe movies. Sounds like there building up for the big crossover. Can\'t wait to see Matt traker show up in the end credit for one of the ji joe movies. Atleast I hope they are still going with the idea I grew up watching M.A.S.K and its about time to see a live action one.

It's good to see Bumblebee referred to as a "rebirth" by top Paramount people.

There are so many people pushing and pulling in every direction on any movie, especially a franchise brand, that you really need a strong studio executive to herd the proverbial cats. Of course, it goes completely haywire if the studio boss has no idea what they're doing. As example: almost every WB executive who has every worked on a DC movie or Kathleen Kennedy. I don't know much about Watts, but I've never heard anything really bad about her. Paramount needs a change at any rate. Hasbro's properties are meandering into irrelevance. Jack Ryan was finally so Charlie Foxtroted that it had to go to TV. Star Trek can't even make TV work anymore. Hopefully she can steer the studio from it's current course.

Overall, I do believe that Transformers / Hasbro Brands needs a Jon Favreau or a Kevin Feige figure to handle these specific brands and create a unified vision for movies and TV. Even the TF toys are all over the place when it comes to storytelling direction. That will be more important than the studio bosses in the long term.

As an executive, all you need to know is how to get a movie from production to screen. You don't need to know the lore inside and out - that's the responsibility of the director and screenwriters. If you really want a cohesive movie universe, you really want a team of writers and directors willing to work toward a single vision. So, being able to create synergy is more important than knowing there are two origins for the Constructicons in the Sunbow cartoon.

 

There are good producers and bad producers. Their names go on the film, and 99% of ticket buyers have no clue what they actually do. I don\'t know a thing about Ms. Watts, but I do love films and I wish her the best of success.
