“Son, please leave the room and go play video games or something. Your mother and I need some alone time. Please lock the door on the way out.”

I don’t have a horse in the MP-44 vs. TE vs. MS race but your story is the greatest endorsement for the official one.

TE just needs to release a 2.0 and give it all the articulation that MP44 has and then we will have a clear winner.

There would be a firestorm if that were to happen. People are angry over improved ratchets and the new shoulder.

I think TE should introduce something new like a Rodimus Prime, stake out new ground.

In that same vein, a MP-44 2.0 or OP V4 would be the clear winner.

Im not the biggest fan of the look MS were aiming for - a bulky heavily updated MP10 like build, as i personally prefer the clean G1 movie look of TE (and really wanted mp10 trailer compatability).
However, those are some great pics and MS clearly nailed the figure they were going for. The articulation cleans up nicely, and i like the paint scheme too - looks good.

Have to agree. I'm not in love with MS Prime as my G1 Prime but dang does he look really nice in the metallic paint. I will probably keep mine as a stand alone...

The Matrix on the G1 figure in your 3rd image is actually a mass-produced upgrade kit.
It includes the hands, matrix chamber and matrix seen here, as well as an energy axe, new gun and a jetpack.
The set was released by Best Toys and is called BTS-03 Matrix of Leadership. It pops up on eBay from time to time.

To this day, still what I wish the live action movies had looked like. Maybe I'm blind or insane, but that looks more real to me (despite the low resolution) than what the movies went with. (Even leaving aside my distaste for the designs.) And disproves (for me at least) the argument that a live action film could never work with blocky G1 like designs.

I really dislike the ugly visible upper thigh cuts though. My big gripe about MS-01. Otherwise, yeah, really like him.

Well, the buff look have been his modern interpretation since the DW era. After all, MP10 can be said to just be a downsized and improved MP01 build.

We all have our nitpicks. TE lower thigh swivels bother me way more than MS hips. To each his own though.

No doubt on the thigh rotation only being at the knees on TE...

Yeah, no doubting the lineage MP01-MP10-MS01 - loved MP10 (and still display) but always craved original G1 movie optimus.
