I recently received a Rockman X ride armor from a seller on ebay, and the box seems damaged compared to what the auctions shows Auction Normally I wouldn't care too much, but there's a big difference in the box condition and this is a pretty rare item. Unless of course the darkness of the picture hides the damage...Chances are the damage is due to shipping. The item was shipped Parcel Post wrapped in brown paper (like groccery bags). Would this be considered the seller's fault or the post office's? Also taped the wrapping to the box. Damn tape... I emailed the seller, but not sure if he'll do anything about it
its mint in the auction. so yeah, it was damaged in shipping. whatever you do, KEEP IT. as you said, that thing is obscenely rare.
That's some pretty piss-poor packaging if he didn't even put the stuff in a shipping box. I'd say the seller was at fault just for doing such a bad job protecting the item, it's general knowledge that the USPS doesn't treat the packages with much care. Did you have a choice to get Priority shipping?
What a fucking jackass. I hate when they just wrap the actual box the item comes in in brown paper. It's only happened a couple of times to me and thankfully not for anything terribly important. If my Overlord had arrived that way though and the box was all crunched as a result, I'd have been pissed. How much did you pay for shipping? The brown paper + Parcel Post implies to me that the seller is just one of those pricks that bilks people on shipping. You know the kind, when you pay $8 shipping and it arrives in a padded envelope with a $1.78 barcode/stamp on it.
I did have a choice of priority, but it was $5 more, and I wasn't in a hurry to get it. It shipped Thursday, and I got it today which is still pretty good. Also, shipping was $15, and the package weighs 2 lbs and 8 ounces. The auction link is above the picture. Need to edit it to put a space in between picture and auction
Hmm, if the seller sent it without an outer box, then its his fault, and you should leave relevant feedback, ie, neutral, 'fast shipping, but packed badly'. I always send anything I sell in Fort Knox boxes, taped up the wazoo.
Still no response. The seller says that the thing is ultra rare, hard to find, etc. but ships it with just a paper wrapping...
Keep it, neutral him, and thank your lucky stars you've got it, move onto the next. I've noticed a trend lately, almost every auction I've seen recently (checking on Beast Wars and Cybertron Downshift) the seller only offered Parcel Post, not Priority. Not to mention, the price for Parcel was the same as Priority (I checked the USPS calculator). So what's up with that? Seriously...if it's all going to be Parcel Post (which I had a terrible experience with) I won't be buying off of eBay much anymore, if at all. I'm willing to pay a little extra to get it now. Hell, that's one of the main points of "Buy It Now".
I bought one of the 20th Prime non-transformable trailers, and the guy shipped it from Hong Kong just wrapped up in brown paper. It was advertised Mint box. It arrived all smashed up.
this is happening alot now on ebay high shipping crappy deliveries between the month long waitings and the $9 shipping for items sent in a regular envelope I've just about had it with ebay
That sux. The closest to that I have come is a Superlink R-Nightscream that came in a box but had packing tape on the toy's box with enough bubble to cover half the toy's box. Fortunately the tape came off and left no sticky or ripped the box when I took it off. I left postive with note of the packing method.
I always make it a point to ship in decent boxes (there's an abundance of them in various sizes where I work) and I always make it a point to ship within a few days of recieving payment. So all the feedback says I ship fast and well. If you don't get your iten in a month, and it arrives crappy, say so on the feedback, otherwise this kind of thing will always happen. Having said that, I've never had any problems with anything I've bought off there.
I'll probably give him neutral feedback, although I'm still sort of pissed that for paying $15 shipping (I calculated it, and it was under $7), the seller would just ship it wrapped in paper. At least the pieces inside are intact...Good thing I'm planning on building it. If I was planning on keeping it unopened, I would probably leave negative
The post office beats the snot out of parcel post stuff. If you have a choice always get priority. It is treated far better.
Sellers fault. They know shipping can be rough and some cushion is needed. Should never send any toy on a paper bag or envelope. The seller was being cheap. Nothing he can really do but give you some type of refund. He'll probably pull the insurance game on you if you did'nt get it. Even some of those sellers with the 'Free shipping' usest the cheapest method avail. You can always give him neutral feedback, and say "Product arrived, BUT SMASHED FROM POOR PACKAGING!"
If you paid with paypal, file a claim. I'd demand at least $15 - technically for his shipping blunder, and unofficially for being a thief on shipping. Only use the technical reason in the claim though. Keep in mind once you leave him a neutral, he can easily drop you a negative and there's little you can do about it. I seriously can't even imagine shipping an item like this and not expecting a buyer complaint. It's like he wants to build a bad reputation.
I thought seller already left feedback, but guess not. I might do the paypal claim thing, but I want ask for $15. Probably more about $7ish
