I recently sold a G1 AFA Ironhide to a buyer in China. I shipped on July 6, and he filed a dispute on tuesday, two weeks after I shipped, saying he didn't recieve it. He hasn't responded to any of my posts in the Paypal dispute resolution center, where I have explained that I shipped to the address provided, and sent him a customs label number. I'm getting tired of seeing my paypal account tied up, and I'm considering escalating it to a claim. I still have the customs form stub, and a reciept from the post office from when I paid to ship it. I think I have ample evidence to show that I shipped, and I'd like to see this resolved soon. Has anyone had a similar experience? Any advice?
I can't stress this enough: The only way to be 100% covered when shipping overseas is to use Express Mail International. A customs form does not always provide proof of delivery. Unless you have proof of delivery, you will lose the paypal claim. Who was the buyer?
Yeah, EMS is about the only way to go when shipping over seas. Especially with high dollar items like AFA graded TFs. EDIT: So how was this Ironhide shipped? Just First Class International?
yeah, that is really becoming the Norm on ebay. Buyers are trying to pull a fast one on sellers all the time.... They just got me last week because I forgot to purchase a Tracking number on something I shipped to California 2 MONTHS AGO! As for shipping overseas, I just refuse to ship things overseas unless the person is a member of tfw. Otherwise, its practically impossible to prove its delivered unless the buyer wants to spend a lot of money on EMS, etc. I hope you win
Your money is gone. Sorry, but unless you have concrete confirmation of delivery (customs numbers do not count) PayPal will side with the buyer. In 9 of 10 item not received claims by buyers from overseas the seller will lose.
Yeah, just first class. Thanks for all the feedback, guys. I mean, it seems as though I am well and truly fucked, but at least I know about it. Shit, what an expensive lesson.
I feel your pain. About 6 years ago, I sold some Star Wars Miniatures (complete Clone Strike set) for over $300 to a buyer in China. I was an idiot and did not have any sort of DC at all. Needless to say, I was out $300. To this day, I still think the seller got the minis. There's little doubt in my mind.
All you can do is enter your customs numbers, and pray that the Chinese Post Office scans the numbers.
This guy right here: eBay My World - zhangmuya He has great feedback...I don't understand. Is there a place I can check that?
Correct me if i'm wrong, but the dispute page should have something that says "How did you mail it, tracking number" etc. Enter the Customs number there and honestly, i'd even scan that receipt and send that to pay pal. Hopefully that gets you somewhere. Honestly, the guy should of given the package more time to show up. He sounds like a dick to be perfectly honest with you.
For future reference, I never equate good feedback with not being a scammer. If you log into paypal, and go to the dispute, there should be a place for you to enter the tracking numbers.
Also, you can ship REGISTERED First Class International WITH A RETURN RECEIPT - that way upon delivery, the return receipt will be signed and mailed back to you SO YOU WILL KNOW IT WAS DELIVERED then you can enter that along with the shipping information in Paypal and eBay.
Does AFA have any way to put a watch on the # associate with that Ironhide. Meaning if he tried to sell it, It would show up as stolen/lost ?
If you receive any Paypal payment for more then $250 from Paypal you have to be able to provide a signature that can be viewed online. I am guessing that since it was an AFA it meets that dollar amount. In other words, even if you have a tracking number that says it was delivered, if there is no Signature available online, you will still lose. Express Mail international can be pretty dicey on the expensive stuff, because in many countries they don't bother getting the signatures even with Express. On "Item Not Received" cases, proof of shipment will not be enough. You have to provide Proof Of Delivery. Below is straight from the Paypal Terms Of Service. "Proof of Delivery" is online documentation from a shipping company that includes all of the following: The date the item is delivered. The recipient’s address, showing at least the city/state or zip code (or international equivalent). Signature Confirmation as described below for payments of $250 USD or more “Signature Confirmation” is online documentation that can be viewed at the shipping company’s website and indicates that the item was signed for on delivery
I know we want to support our own, but there is always the chance that the buyer didn't receive the item.
*Hate to burst your bubble* ream: To be real honest about this, 2 week's a wee bit too short a waiting time to even consider raising a dispute on PayPal. IMHO, Buyer should at least try to correspond with Seller so as to understand the situation better. Packages gets delayed at times, that's "common sense" to most fellas out there. Convey these reasonings over to the other party nicely & they wll understand (well, most of the times.) We ship packages to USA/UK region & though the standard delivery timeframe states 6-10 days, it can sometime take 3 weeks to a month before package is receipt.
