Well, I was pissed. My girl got a 15% off code and my other friend got a 8 percent code, and my other seller account got a 8 percent too. My main didnt get anything. Angry and furiuos I called Ebay. As I am a member since 2002, and part expert since 1996 lol. So I called em. She said she couldnt do a damn thing because they cant just generate them out of "thin air" as she phrased it. So she led me down a course to possibly get those pesky Ebay marketing ads and promos and crap and then I will be eligible for a coupon. Wierd these hoops you got to go thru, but to save a buck sometimes, it not easy. And alot of times, you don't come out ahead in life by getting what you pay for. So I have opened this thread to show you what to do to possibly get an ebay coupon if you possibly never recieved one, your options are turned OFF in My Ebay. To change that you must click "Account" tab in "MY EBAY" the next page, on the left column, scroll down to "notification preferences", then ALL THE WAY HIDDEN AT THE BOTTOM CLICK "Promotions and Surveys", I clicked all boxes haha. Here come da spam! Anyways, maybe, we all can save a buck someday. I honestly think they sent me one for being logged out for 30 days and they wanted my business maybe, I dunno...... Sorry if you guys know all this already, but for those who maybe possibly dont know, now you know. y'know?
I had all those checked already and I haven't seen a discount coupon in forever (grr). My girlfriend, an occasional eBay buyer, hasn't received any either. Too bad they patched up that hole years ago where codes weren't associated with accounts and could just be shared. I always figured the codes were just handed out randomly(?) or, I speculate, given to people who fit some buying criteria, like showing a recent lull in their purchasing habits.
I got a $100 off coupon from Ebay once. I've been a member for over ten years. I used to get 10% off coupons once a month, but I haven't seen those in quite a while.
You think the way things are right now and to make them selves look good they would offer some kind of generic % code off but I keep forgeting that's E-Bay....
It just makes me happier,(?) to know that I got a deal, on anything. It pains me to know that Ebay seems to be such a well off company that seriously, if that coupon wasnt there, I wouldnt bother. But, it had me buy a more expensive item due to the sheer saving bracket that I bought something out of my norm on there. Heh, they must know regardless giving a customer coupon or not, they're making loot and having no problems changing the user agreement every 2 months. yay. ^ Like blaster said......
Thanks for that suggestion, the "Postal mail catalogues and promotions" box wasn't ticked on my account, maybe this is why my folks get vouchers and such but I never do. It does annoy me, that despite being a member for 8-and-a-half years with 1700 feedback, I've only ever had one voucher from them. My parents get them frequently, despite being registered half as long as I have with less than half my feedback between them.
I've gotten a few coupons in the past and I was under the impression that they were "randomly" distributed. I was almost about to give up on the coupons until ebay offered me ebay bucks. Again, this program claims to have randomly selected users to participate and offers about 2% back on qualifying auctions. But bottom line, ebay claims to like random selection for coupons/discounts.
I've already had those notification preferences checked for some time now - this doesn't work. Ebay sends out coupons either randomly, or to accounts that haven't seen any action in a while. They have no need to send out a coupon to a big spender (ie. TF collector).
I've never received a coupon email from them ever. But I do get those coupon things every so often in my inbox on ebay. I thought those were for everyone, though. Not just me or whoever else.
i never saw an Ebay coupon in almost five years since registration. I highly doubt that they only send coupons to newly-registered or those with rare actions. perfect examples are my friends who receive coupons once in while but never intend to spend. well well, it's Ebay.
