It literally starts off after PRIME, though. In the first episode.

Honestly, this is actually a decent take. I'm fine with the concept of gender when it comes to Cybertronians, because at the core of this, it's fiction! These are series that reflect their creators and their experiences, their beliefs. Fiction is meant to be a piece of an individual, a story woven from the heart, not some product you mindlessly consume.

I was referring towards the pre-production stage, where they basically settled on the superficial cop show theme, and then were told to work in the Prime aspects because of the push for a larger continuity. If you really wanna' be nitpicky, Rescue Bots is a good example of this.

    got bored
    never finished s1
the clearly male bot pretending he's not sounds completely about on message
but it was boring and pointless long before that
at the end of animated everyone was stoked for sari to discover her roots on cybertron
s4 had been written to feature that prominently - what does it mean to be robotic and cybertronian?
here they're pretending these clearly cybertronian robots... are not
it makes even less sense considering the state of human-cybertron relations
the entire premise makes entirely no sense
    even energon was more coherent

It also happened with IDW's MtMtE/Lost Light too.

Damn. I loved the hell out of the first ten episodes, and definitely was not expecting to enjoy it anywhere near as much as I did. And now it looks likely to continue the level of quality already established. Bloody good times indeed, and I might end up liking this more than Animated.

And as for the bigots - the door's over there, please use it, because you're not welcome any more.

Excusing your mid-70's Anita Bryant -esque point-of-view for a second, these are not inherently direct Cybertronians. They are hybrids, via presumably stored "CNA" or whatever they choose to brand it as per this show, and genetic material via the humans. Likewise, at what point can we make the analysis that a fictional race of 'alien robots' is on a bimodal distribution of characteristics that aren't implied for this series due to references of dying off, and what is likely the Allspark? Your rationale's holes have holes.

If there was a way to pin messages instead of threads, I'd nominate this a thousand times over.

Can we not make every single discussion about Earthspark into a shitshow because of this Nightshade business?

It's entirely possible Nightshade will turn out to be an annoying, obnoxious character but there's really not enough here to make any solid judgements yet. You don't have to like the character, but certain topics are just not gonna fly around these parts and by bringing them up / alluding to them you're simply asking for trouble.

So please, both sides of this discussion, put a sock in it because you're both equally annoying.

    Thanks. Signed, a trans woman.

(Thank you for putting into words what I'm too exhausted to say.

EDIT: Oh god no wonder it's picking up. The crypto chuds migrated here!

Comparing Starscream to his cameo earlier, it's not just his eye color that is different. The shape of his helmet and eyes have been alterated (it's upper part now sits lower on his forehead, eyes are a bit bigger) and his "chin beard" thingy has been tweaked and looks a bit more straight now.
If the blue eyes are not a plot-related thing it is highly possible that the earlier appearance just straight up wasn't using a finished 3D model yet and it is merely a visual choice.

I just hope we get toys to align with all of the awesome characters that are sure to roll out between season 1a & 1b. One of the unfortunate things about Robots in Disguise was the gaggle of great villains (a new one each week practically) that never got toys. Hopefully this time they stay on point. For instance; we have yet to see hope of a deluxe Soundwave w/tapes or Swindle (two of my personal fav's from season 1a), and only have their 1-step 'flip-changer' versions on the horizon. Animated and Prime both had figures of all the main characters in at least a deluxe scale, whereas again RID and Cyberverse played it a bit more fast & loose, with more than a few characters only ever appearing in the show. Hopefully Earthspark follows the Animated and Prime route.

    Agreed fully

Tbh, I am not overly crazy about the idea either, but I am not making a mountain out of a molehill every five seconds about it either.

Honestly, just skip over those parts if you truly don't like it because so far everything else about this show has been pretty good.

But then again, this is the internet and the internet likes to act like the internet so I am not overly surprised about it.

Wow, who knew this character would cause this much division I am not a fan of it either but it is what it is we got a character named Hashtag now we got to deal with it. Still a better name than Dreadbot. Nightshade is pretty cool really interested to see what happens with them

If you don't think one character can cause an actual civil war in the fanbase, you clearly weren't in the Hot Rod did nothing wrong threads.

Since this show has an IDW-inspired reformed Megatron, now could be a good time to put Getaway onscreen.
