My 3p one had on its box two variations of the face sequence. The animated movie was diff from the season 3 sunbow quints. Did that blow your 5 faces off lol Interested to see if the earthrise one follows the movie or sunbow.

Frankly if it was just a matter of "doing it wrong" nobody would've gotten the green face on, either. The green face was fine.

 

This is just a really Piss poor design choice. The red head just does not tab in at all.

ok you’ve got to shave just the tiniest little bit from the inside of the white tab with an exacto on the red head and it will snap into place. The tiniest shave you can. Really poor job done here.

 

I didn’t shave the tab down, but taking the face off of the back plate helped me. Didn’t make it easy, but made it easier. Still took forever and then suddenly, it happened. Maybe shaving the tab down would have helped. Don’t know.

 

If you don't shave the hair can get out of control. Try a bic razor lol.....

Picked this up this morning, spent 10 minutes trying to get those faces on. Couldn't.

Came right to this thread and read about removing the back of the faceplate.

Within 5 seconds of trying it that way, they snapped on perfectly, with zero force.

NOTE: You need to insert that first top tab UPWARDS into the flippy thing. There is even an arrow showing this. (the back of the tab even has the tiiiiiniest crook in it too to allow this.

Once you slide it upwards, bring the face down and press firmly into the other slot; it'll give a satisfying CLICK.

EDIT: Using this "upwards, and then down" maneuver, the second face didn't even need it's plate removed; it just snapped on.

This. Got both heads on within a few minutes after getting him out the box using this method. Its the same method for combining Sky Lynx so I'm surprised people didn’t catch on to this sooner.

 

That doesn’t work for every one. The red wouldn’t go on no matter what until I shaved it.

 

I got the Red head on without having to do anything before even knowing how bad the issue was.

 

Yeah, it's a total YMMV thing. I bought three, and 5/6 heads went on lickety-split but that last red head was a sticky wicket until I removed the faceplate. Then it went on like there was never a problem, which was laughably frustrating in its own right...

 

Red heads are finicky like that...

It’s an odd duck, but kinda cool because of it. I’eave got a Sharkticon I can pair him with, but he strikes me more as a display piece than a plaything.

 

No trouble here with getting the faces on, just made sure to do the top tab first.

The faces look great, but I have to say I'm a bit disappointed that only 3 of them have moving mouths. And it's unfortunate that the clear effect piece doesn't match the orange one in the render. Also, as others have said, I won't be transforming this guy much. That's fine, I got him to display on the 86 movie shelf with my sharkticons (and maybe an allicon if I find one on sale).

 

The faces really do look good with the possible exception of Doubt. Something seems to be off with that one

 

Lovely, just sliced my thumb open trying to get the red head on and still haven't managed. Have tried filing and unscrewing. QC issues have really been killing the hobby for me...

 

Hurt my fucking hand trying to get it on before coming here and seeing that taking it apart makes it easier. Fucking ow!
Also smudged the paint on that face.. Augh!
