Is anyone who’s done the head swap willing to spare their ER Prowl head? I figured I’d have more luck asking here where people who’ve done the swap are posting. My ER Prowl has quite bad paint on his head, and I’d love to replace it if someone’s willing to part with their well-painted spare. So as to not be completely off-topic, I’ll throw my hat in the ring and say I love this mold so much. Easily one of my personal top deluxes, even though all three of mine don’t have the knee tabs. Prowl is my favorite of the Datsun bros so naturally he should be my favorite here too, but his nasty head paint has unfortunately soured that. Head issues aside, this a fantastic Prowl and truly a mini Masterpiece.
Posted this earlier in EAT: Hmm, just realized Hastak painted Prowl's siren lights wrong. Barricade's was painted correctly in comparison. Both are made of clear plastic. There's molding detail under the lights. This provides the illusion of multiple layers when painted correctly. This method is being used a lot for windshields / windows in WFC, as well as POTP Dinobots. For Prowl, they painted the clear plastic on the TOP and SIDES, which then covers up the molding detail. For Barricade, they only painted the BOTTOM surface, which then allows the molding detail to show through and give the illusion of multiple layers. Good job, Hastak, Good job... For Siege, both Prowl and Barricade have the paint properly done from the bottom of their siren lights. Prowl on left, Barricade on right. Prowl's is painted on top while Barricade's is painted on the bottom. Both have the same clear plastic and same red and black paint colors. View of molding detail underneath. Barricade's on the right is properly done. Is there a way to correct this? Yes, but would require too much work as IPA is too risky to use on clear plastics since Siege line (melting problems). Would need sanding, refinishing the surfaces, and new paint.
So, uh... one of the clips on my Prowl's windshield broke mysteriously. I've tried gluing it back together with ultraviolet adhesive, but it won't clip back onto the pin correctly. And replacing him on the aftermarket is going to be a pain in the ass... What should I do??
Here is a picture of the current state of the hinges, and a picture of how they won't fit in properly
I refuse to transform my Prowl. I tried the head swap, but I preferred the regular head in the end. Not gonna risk breaking this figure, too risky and can't replace.
No fix, unfortunately. Glue of any type will fail due to being high stress points. I'm not sure if even plastic welding would help due to how thin and small the hinge parts are.
Oh crap. Sorry that happened. It makes me think of the G1 Prowl I had as a kid. Same thing happened to that toy. I was heart broken.
