Not "happy" about the shield parts forming... but it looks promising otherwise. I was just scared to death they were going to try to pass off a recolor of Trailbreaker as Ironhide, as a movie-toon hybrid or something. Hard to see the details, but both these sets have potential to be awesome. I don't mind the parts forming of Cliffjumper, maybe he'll be okay...

 

Might go for these as supplements to my Siege Ironhide and Prowl. Hopefully they'll stick around long enough for me to decide. It's not the worst price on a two-pack I have seen.

Hmmm...depending on how they do leader Ratchet, I wonder if an Ironhide retool of it might be a possibility? That would be 3 Ironhide releases in a relatively short period of time...lol. Would be awesome, though.

smart move to re-make the cybertronian-van molding for the new Ironhide (and presumably Ratchet)...that was a really good toy

 

I had problems with the partsforming on Cliff and Arcee but I think I'm ok with this Ironhide (I'd like some higher quality images before I make that call offically). I think his shield works where Cliff's shield and Arcee's hoverboard don't. It just feels more natural. It's got a better shape for a shield and it's much larger than the little rear window shield Cliff had, and it fits the character better than Arcee's hoverboard.

I will say, it’s ridiculous that partsforming seems to be a staple in this line. However, I cannot lie, that Ironhide looks amazing, as does every other figure in this photo.

I have no coneheads in my collection, either, so that Dirge and Ramjet two-pack shall be mine.

 

I have less of an objection to Ironhide having a bit of partsforming, considering the original G1 figure. It's not ideal, but at least we're finally getting a good mainline Ironhide figure after forever.

Who knows? Maybe the shield can convert into a battle-sled. //edit// looks like it can!

 

partsforming Has been a staple since 1984 when transformers came out. It’s the fandom that decided to treat it like a dirty word. Find one instance hasbro promised they wouldn’t do it

 

I'm not honestly certain if it would be possible to do an Ironhide as a deluxe with a robot mode this good looking, without either partsforming or a big-ass backpack. Like, I'm fine with my Siege one, but this dude looks literally dead on to the cartoon. To be perfectly frank, his proportions even look better than the masterpiece toy.

And reminder: his robot mode was the biggest cheat of all the 1984 sunbow designs, given the toy he was based on.

 

I remember when Cliffjumper came out with his partsforming trunk, and people were trying to say how we didn't want this to be the trend. And then people were trying to defend this with "he's only one figure," and "it's not a trend."

Well, here we are. This with Doubledealer's 'tail,' technically Arcee (even if you can leave it on--which doesn't fix her other issues) and now Bumblebee that just got announced, and it' pretty much the same thing. Partsforming. A trend of it. Good on you guys who don't care, but it's absolutely cheap and lazy. Especially at the price points.

Thankfully, I want an Ironhide who is a voyager class (and that wasn't happening in this line), so this was never going to be something I would get. But I expect much better in 2020.

 

Haven’t read the previous posts so someone may have already said this, are the Coneheads’. coneheads fake? Ie not the actual Cone of the plane but an integrated part of the head sculpt.

 

I pre-ordered Prowl and Ironhide but did I miss a Seeker link? Didn't see one in the thread.
