I'm not sure how I feel about the possibility of Studio Series also getting G1 figures, especially when the WFC trilogy also is doing G1 figures. That said, perhaps this is actually evidence that the final part of the trilogy might be focused on some of the AU continuities-- then SS will allow Hasbro to keep G1 figures on the shelves.

If this Cyclonus really is from this new G1 Studio Series line, it looks really good, and the possibility of getting a newer, better Grimlock sounds nice too. I guess we'll just have to wait for official announcements to figure out how all of these pieces fit together.

Trying to Fly an F14 by joining the Army is kind of a longshot. You know because the army didn’t Use F14s.

Had you joined the Navy though!

One of the Decepticon Micromasters and Leozack(with F-14A glove vanes extended) was an F-14. Also a minicon from Cybertron turned into an F-14.
Those aren't F-14's. POTP Blackwing/CW Air Raid are swing wing fighters with vertical stabilizers(which are closer to an F/A-18) closer together and a different canopy arrangement, the missle and wing placement is similar to an F-14 but those definitely aren't F-14's. It's like saying the SU-27 and MIG-29 are the same when they aren't.

G2 Cyberjet Hooligan/Jetfire is the Naval Advanced Tactical Fighter(NATF), based off the F-22 and proposed as a replacement for the F-14.

Classics Jetfire has similar wing/stabilizer and even panel line placement to an F-14 but isn't an F-14. The stabilizers are shaped differently.

Definitely inspiration from the F-14, but none of the above are F-14's.

Before the National Security Act of 1947, America had no independent Air Force. It was part of the Army called the US Army Air Corps, or USAAC. The NSA of 47 granted Independence from the Army and granted them the exclusivity of fixed wing aircraft.

Their missions include air superiority, tactical and strategic bombing, close air support, and logistical support over land. The Navy and Marine Corps kept their aviation as the Act only separated the Army and Air Corps. As such the only fixed wing aircraft the Army is allowed are those that which are unarmed.

    Yeah.

But they didn’t use F14’s is my point. If he’d said that he wanted to join the army to fly Mustangs I wouldn’t have corrected him.

I would've, nicely, as the Army doesn't fly the Mustang anymore, haha.

Based on the size of the figure and the box compared to Soundwave in that one picture, I really believe that Maverick will at least be a Leader class figure. He's already very big in the jet mode, and usually when a Transformer toy has a jet mode of some sort, they usually have to be compressed to transform, so I'm sure he will be pretty tall in robot mode.

Edit: You know what, I was not looking at that picture of Maverick and Soundwave properly. Now I can see how he could be a Voyager, but MAYBE he could still be a Leader class.

On the topic of iconic vehicles that would make for a cool crossover, I would like to see something like an Aston Martin DB5 from Goldfinger.

Pretty much what Shin said----there's a lot of F-14-inspired, F-14esque TF's, but actual F-14's are quite rare. I know of Leozack and a micromaster off the top of my head.

TFwiki is wrong, at least half the "F-14's" listed, aren't.

    There was a Gobot though:

I'm confused? I thought Cyclonus was from the earthrise line?

There's no evidence which points strongly to any line as of yet. Some people are speculating he might be Studio because he's stylistically different from the other ER releases, has not been in any of the online store leaks and the usual 6 voyager slots are already taken. Plus it appears to be a very early product sample which probably schedules him beyond wave 4 of ER. It's as equally possible he's Earthrise, Studio or even WFC3

If they did a Crossover figure of the Batmobile I think it should be the 66 TV series Batmobile seeing how it's based on a really car and all..

TOPGUN MAVERICK looks like Dreadwind in robot mode, and Darkwing in jet mode. Perhaps this mold will be retooled into both, and this figure is kinda in-between the two retools to differentiate itself from them?

It will make sense if next year's line focus is Beast Wars. just saying.
I'd be cool with that. Those two are stuck in combiner mode for Starscream for me!

It'll make more sense when WfC ends and the next line isn't the same style.

Like, at all. And then that trilogy will end up transitioning to Studio Series as well.

Eh. I like the idea of "past, present and future" that WFC is going with so far. part 1 was Cybertron-esque, Part 2 is Earth/around earth times and part 3 is post-main war, probably. I hope that's where they're going for at least.

    So new movie tie-in confirmed?
Studio Series is about movie figures, and the original transformers MOVIE is a movie as well. I'm honestly surprised I was caught off guard by the inclusion. It could also give a small break for the movie designs to better prep for the next movie for better accuracy instead of relying on concept art for the first figures and getting accurate ones later on.

As long as they limit themselves to just the movie, SS should be fine. That said, now I want a Studio Series Spinoff line with accurate TV cartoon molds... Screen series? Tele-series? Toon series? I dunno….

So, Transformers Prime ended with a TV Movie, and TF Animated Started with a TV Movie, The first 3 episodes never reaired on Cartoon Network, but I think they did on The Hub as Episodes.
