It's why a Power Rangers crossover may not be possible. Hasbro has the license in the US, but Bandai has it in Japan.

So Takara legally may not be able to touch Power Rangers...which means Hasbro can't have their help making the figure. And possibly can't even put the TF label on it.

 

I mean im not doubting that one bit. For what its worth, every movie has its fandom. Hell, the Shawshank Redemption gained a fandom from "ive never heard of it before" jokes. Im just not afraid to call it what it is: A love story mixed with action to draw both genders to the box office. Not worthy of a crossover, especially when Hasbro owns the rights to the GIJOE sky striker which is already alligned in multiple transformers continuities.

 

I doubt even IF Hasbro and Takara could work out a deal with Nintendo Pokémon is probably not on their radar. The crossovers will be 80's pop culture based for a while. Its just a question of who they can work with a some bit of current relevance. Ecotron came out at the same time as the DIW comic and when the new Ghostbusters trailer came out. Top Gun has it's sequel planed to come out as soon as theaters reopen.

 

Yeah GI Joe is bearly a thing anymore. Top Gun will always be a popular, even if it a crap movie.

 

Honestly, I think I'd prefer them announcing something much closer to release. The amount of times we see something cool and the release date is 6 months away or more... I'm so impatient, haha.

I mean, a Top Gun/Joe crossover would make perfect sense (Skystriker with new Joe recruit Maverick) but honestly, a transforming Tomcat is way cooler. Plus, it's not like F-14s are strangers to Transformers: G1 Jetfire, Air Raid, Leozack, some Mini-Cons.

That is a very interesting strategy. Im not sure it always works though. Its like funko pop dolls. They end up on an office shelf more often than tempting the owner to fill up a whole wall full of them.

 

Haha, no there was a debate that the two toys in the photo had different heads because it was a tiny, unfocused picture. Now with the clearer picture, you can tell both toys have the Hubcap head.

Technically, nothing says Springer wasn't around before the movie. The TFTM designs share similarities with the female Autobots from season two. So Springer could just magically appear for the movie like Hoist, Warpath, and the Protectobots magically appeared partway through the second season.

This isn't really a complaint, even though I won't buy Cyclonus. It just throws my expectations for part three out the window.

 

I do! All Crossover-bots should be like the Ghostbusters crossover, an entirely new character, or like Titan Masters. I never liked the Star Wars TFs because their robot modes resembled the pilots. I don't need a Falcon like looks like Han and Chewbacca. The Falcon should be her own bot!

 

Well thats the point of Pops. You get a amalgamation collection from all your favorite franchises but all in the same style and scale.
