Update 1: so I've updated the sculpt, printed in colour and changed some part engineering so she can mostly now transform, kinda, we're most of the way there but need some tollerance tweaking. Still, definitely progress! Once complete I'll have the files up for free. See the comments for more photos




Original post: I was a tad disapointed with Earthrise Arcee's complete lack of transformation engineering, but seeing all the backpack replacements that have popped up gave me an idea.

So a while back I designed a fully 3D printed MP figure of the arcee design from the terminator crossover comics. I fully plan to finish that, I have some neat ideas on how to make it pop, but that'll take time. For now, I decided to re-use the vehicle sculpt to make a 3D printed terminator style upgrade kit.


This upgrade kit replaces the previous backpack. Aside from popping the pin on the original backpack no extra modification is needed to the base figure. On top of that, while there might be some partsforming involved arcee will be able to transform WITH THE UPGRADE KIT ATTACHED. This is not armour, this is a full figure conversion


I'm still early in development and yet to work out the legs, but right now the upper body and upper body armour can already successfully transform.


Additionally, no articulation is lost with this kit

That's extremely impressive so far.   It's really turning a figure's flaw into a massive strength when it comes to making upgrades to it easy.

 

Very cool upgrade it really improves the figure, I was just gonna get your terminator Arcee as my Arcee figure but now im torn between it and the upgrade kit!

When the files are done, could you also include a head similar to the MP one, but sized down for the Earthrise mold? I feel like a less G1 cartoon-ish head would really finish off this awesome upgrade kit.
