Bulkhead looks like a mechanized Mr. Potato Head.

I really like that Soundwave. I suppose maybe the four legs can also form into two? Ratchet is pretty damn cool too.

Bulkhead. Oh my god that Bulkhead. So silly. Jack looks like a goddamn secret agent. Miko looks like a huge bitch. XD

I also think they should make some slight changes to most of those preliminary designs and reuse them for other characters.

    I'd really like to see some of these designs reused later on, maybe;
Megatron: I dunno Straxus? Bludgeon? IDW style separate Galvatron?
    Arcee: Gettin' heavy Airazor vibes.
Bumblebee: Wasp. Definately works with the crest/antenna and more jockish build.
Bulkhead: Reminds me somewhat of the pre-Animated Rhinox from Allspark Animated 2.
    Prime: Sentinel or Ultra Magnus.
Soundwave: Overload? Rampage? Tarantulas? New guy? If there's been an Overload who was a jet it'd be a good double homage.
Starscream: Skywarp or other tough guy seeker.

Damn, I wish Jack looked like that in the final version. Bulkhead looks hilarious. I somehow like the way Optimus Prime looks. I don't really like Soundwave, Starscream, and Ratchet.

Anybody else notice that that Ratchet has some elements of Bulkhead's final design?

I hope they recycle those Starscream and Soundwave concept for upgrades/future characters.

Starscream's final design looks like it took elements from Soundwave's early design too. Such as the wings, thinnish arms, and chest silhouette.

We looking at different concept art? Apart from the antennae, that Bee pic is pretty close to what we got in Prime.

The concept art is very amazing to look at!:)

I espically like how Soundwave,Arcee,Optimus and Megatron looked! Though I still prefer their final designs these are pretty good too and if they are used in some way like on a different character I'd go for that! :thumb

As for the others they are okay though thier final design is better. Bulkhead's concept drawing for instence is..... Well I think this video would best describe my reaction.:)  Archimedes laughing-The Sword in the Stone - YouTube Honestly I'm SO glad they went for Bulkheads priveous design for refernce instead!

The Soundwave one is quite cool and original, I've seen the Starscream one before, it's fantastic, I saw a picture of it on DeviantArt that had been coloured (not officially) and looked amazing, i'll try and find it.
Bumblebees design kinda reminds me of TFA Blurr

I love proto-Megatron. I hope they use that for basis for a The Fallen if he shows up in the show.

In fact they're all pretty damn cool, I wouldn't mind to see any of them as basis for new characters.

I think all of the pre-implementation designs are too extreme in one form or another and wouldn't have worked. I'm glad they paired them down through iterative process to get to what we have today. In fact, I can't say there is a single character design that I don't like, which is saying something. Oh wait..gotta say that Arachnid doesn't work for me. Not sure I can see why a spider character keeps the segmented legs and 'spidery' nature when in the end they transform into a military helicopter.

Come to think of it, I think the thing that worries me most about Arachnid is how this character will work in action figure form. The figure for Blackarachnia (TFA) just didn't work IMHO and I think part of it had to do with those darned legs. For instance; how will those spindly legs hold up the figure on a shelf? Will Hasbro/Takara's designers be able to do this character justice? Is the model too extreme and 'out there' for proper translation to figure form? I have every confidence in Hasbro/Takara to take their best shot, but in the end will it work?

True but than look at characters like ROTF Ravage and Laserbeak. They arguably have the same problem too when it comes to alt modes!

Truthfully I think TFA Blackrachina worked pretty great as a toy because despite some problems it pulled it off much better than I thought. Airachnid I can see how you're wondering how they will pull Airachinds toy off if she is getting one that is. Maybe they can suprise us who knows?
