As the the title states MP Ultra Magnus! There are many parts from all over the spectrum going into this one and is a long way from done. Finally got a mpum from ebay for a decent price @ $100 dollars us shipped so one big step to get this done. So I will do a run down of a parts list for anyone interested.

1 MP Ultra Magnus

Parts from a MP Prime,replacement lower legs and main body and still need thighs from a MP Prime and maybe still need a head to mod too

Parts from a g1 Ultra Magnus, 2 g1 utra magnus traliers,at least 2 maybe 3 g1 Ultra magnus big helmets, g1 grion piece or a scratch built one.

Many parts from a 1/25 C.O.E. Freightliner,inculding the gas tanks, exhaust stacks(those suckers are HUGE!) bigger correct scaled rims and tires and grill and front bumper.

The goal here is to have a g1 style MP Ultra Magnus with his amor on and be able to transform to truck and car trailer and be able to put him back to the mostly white stock toy too! I also want want both of his robot modes and his truck mode too be diffrent from MP Prime. Those mods are,g1 style helmet, the big gas tanks and that his legs will not collaps, he will be longer in truck mode and the bigger exhaust stacks. Oh and the flat chest and diffrent grill and bumper seen in both modes like g1 toy.

UPDATE!!

Well i fine got some where on this project...well at least enough to show something...

1: Made chest amor/trailer with adjustable so it fits on MP UM and will fit alternators when in trailer mode

2:Made chest shield/plane thingy bigger...still needs a bit of smoothing.
Still removable and I plan on it forming part of the trailer floor.

3:Added pieces to trailer/feet amor so the new TFTM Prime wheels dont look so out of place(hanging low)

4: Made the MP Prime chest doors close flat..so 1 that it fits in tighter in amor and 2 so it is diffrent from MP Prime

5: cut pieces of detail off G1 UM thighs(trailer floor) to glue on MP UM thighs....once I get spare thighs

Small new update,last picture shows the work i've done to the feet so far,makes him 3/4 inch taller,still only about 40% way on the feet. I've got to smooth and add some detail......feet will be removed for truck mode : ( oh well,not much of a fan of parts forming but he is kind of one anyways with the trailer...............


newest small update...

I cut off bottom of lower legs so bigger wheels can fit,ground off "fender" lip, I'm cutting that section so the bigger wheels can sit more upwards in truck mode, I cut off lower part of legs so wheels can sit more towards rear in truck mode. I wont mount rear wheels till front ones are mounted as the rear wheels must match where the bigger front wheels end up as they will only fit in one way. I taped the bigger gas tank in place just to show everone what I'm thinking...oh and i filled in feet so they are soild


new update 11/11/2010

I bought a junker MP Prime(no head or feet) off of e-bay for 50 bucks so now I have more parts for this project.
1. I've glue the g1 ultra magnus thigh detail to the MP thighs
2.Modded the 1/25 coe exhaust stacks to fit. My favorite mod to date....
3.Trimmed the 1/25 coe gastanks to fit the thighs(not glued on yet)
4. Mounted old small MP gastanks to waist panels for a g1 ultra magnus look and the orginal small MP gastanks on legs will be removed.

small update for 11/23/10

1. cut lower legs so all 8 wheels can be mounted
2. ground off light from visor of cab
3. epoxed on big gas tanks
4. removed front wheels
5.not pictured is the detailed piece for front of foot,picture to come soon
and lastly scored a complete g1 ultra magnus from ebay for $35.00 u.s.d. shipped,so i now should have all parts to finish this thing!!

Your right there is still ALOT of work too go! and no rush too boot! I got too many other customs that I need to get done before I spend any real time on this LOL! AND the MP Ultra Magnus looks ok as is so it is ALONG way off but just want too show some early pics.

for it to be as old as it is g1 ultra magnus harms were pretty well articulated but that was about the only thing he had articulated.

thanks! the arms are pretty good,especailly for G1, I probably wount do anything to aticulate them...

 

i have been tryig to track down a trialer of his for myself i wanted to use the arms for a metroplex idea i had lots of articulation but could still collapse like the original

anyway cant wait to see how this turns out for the life of me i dont know why no one takes magnus seriously he is far more than just a repaint of prime

 

WOW this is exactly what I was thinking... but still no luck finding a MP UM... well I know 1 that sell for 100euro... but I'm all outta cash from 4 Unicrons and 2 Primus I bought

thanks G60,I still got aways to go,the hands are from a bandi model kit(e.f.g.f. anti tank squad) but be aware you will need two kits to make two hands...and they are set up so you can make them left or right....and they are not cheap,around $30 u.s.d. each...but fully articulated and very detailed AND will take an hour or two to put together...but worth it.

this is totally making me happy.. I even contacted the dude now to sell me a MP-02 myself
since I have all MP's except Ghost SS/Nemesis/Magnus/Grimlock

Guess I'll be needing a second when you're done  

 

i waited till i found a used MP UM on e-bay for $80usd cuz i refused to pay so much...not that $80 was a great price but I wanted UM....so what could i do?

 

well US has had alot over the last months.. I've seen them all  
but due to the weight... shipping to Europe sux!

Damn! This is shaping up well. The combination of MP, G1 & that 1/25 C.O.E. Freightliner work so well together. Do you mind taking a scale pic next to some other MPs? Looking Good!
