Looks like anyone can go to E3 this year! If you have $250 of course. First come first serve on the tickets however. E3 Opens To The Public For The First Time Ever
^It says in the link. Well this would be great if I could go. Plane tickets would ramp it up to around $500 and I'd have to get a place to stay and.. I think I'll just request off for work, order a pizza and live stream it like I usually do.
It figures. The first year I can actually apply to E3 for media badges and they open to the public. Oh well, no big loss honestly since it seems like the public access does not allow you to go to the press conferences (which is what I want to go for).
I seen this on gameinformer about public can now come to the event but I didn't think the tickets where that pricey.
It would be nice if they had something like this on the East Coast. In my current living situation, there's no way I could afford to go all the way to California and see E3 like on my bucket list. I'll stick to taking a day off work and watching the press conferences again.
Yeah thats what I'm doing. The $250 isn't bad, but the plane tickets and motel room would make it not worth it, plus you can't got to the press confrencds with the public tickets. Your better off at home with a good pizza.
Some of you have to understand. Events like E3 or CES is nothing like a con such as Botcon. They are static to they're location. Deals are being made. people are hired and/or recruited from other companies. What most of you see is the surface with companies showing their up and coming via the media. Having attended quite a few E3s over the years, there is no hotel blocks by E3 themselves. Companies lay claim to hotels way in advance. The days prior to the event is tough to find a nearby hotel if you don't plan ahead.
I'd love to go to E3 and while i could probably pull together the $250 the other expenses would kill me.
So there is no discounted rate for getting a hotel room during E3? Should I just call the Marriott over there now then?
Like CES, the scale of attendance is massive. All area hotels will be filled and prices jacked up the closer the event comes. I would suggest you make a reservations now. If you're part of any travel clubs that provide discounts use it. I myself didn't have to pay for hotels stays due to the companies I worked for provided it, but I hear it's through the roof.
Also keep in mind your food. Inside the food is expensive. The surrounding restaurants is packed. There are food trucks but prices varies. There are the gourmet trucks all the way to taco tucks.
I'd be interested in going only because I think this will be one of the last (if not the last) years for E3. Of course, I'd rather buy games with that money instead. (Though to be honest, I'd probably spend it on a modded Turbo Duo instead.)
