The Sony conference definitely started off on the wrong foot. The church section for the Last of Us Part II reveal was kind of neat, but this was more for the people there. For me, I thought it wasn't necessary, and only made the intermission just a time eater. Once it started off proper, it was fairly good. Anyway, here's my thoughts on what was shown.

The Last of Us Part II looks really good. I figured that Elle would take the reins as the protagonist. It felt like the gameplay that was shown was pre-rendered or staged, because the actions shown seemed a bit out there, such as arrow removal, and getting shot a bunch without needing a health pack. It might just be me. It was still a good look.

    Black Ops IIII. Don't care.

Destiny 2. Why you gotta kill Cade like that? Not enough to get me to rebuy the game, but those who are still playing are probably excited.

Ghost of Tsushima looks pretty. Gameplay kind of reminded me of Nioh, but more forgiving for the casual audience.

Control trailer made me think that it was Quantum Break 2. It was almost correct, since it was a Remedy game.

Resident Evil 2 remake made me smile. Once I saw the old school Playstation in the opening, I guessed correctly that it was RE2. Not surprised at the over the shoulder perspective, even though I would have preferred the fixed camera. Looking forward to this one.

Kingdom Hearts III is once again Kingdom Hearts III.

Trover Saves The Universe. Don't know what to make of this, but it's Justin Roiland, so I'm intrigued.

Death Stranding looks great. The exploration heavy gameplay looks really good, though I would have liked to have seen how it's going to handle action. Seeing Lea Seydoux as a co-lead was surprising. The cinematics seem to have dropped the one shot motif of MGSV and earlier trailers, though I'm assuming they'll be incorporated to more important scenes.

    Spider-Man looks insane. Nuff said.

The entire conference was pretty much 3rd person single player games. The quality of the games was (mostly) high, but would have been nice to mix it up.

Also a lot of no shows. No Souls, remake or new. No Armored Core, Ace Combat 7, Final Fantasy 7. They had those silly Dreams music parts between trailers but didn't actually show the game off at all.

    Gonna have to say 5/10.

What time is the Nintendo panel and how long does it last?

I watched a little bit of that Disney channel feed, and kept it on in the background when watching the Youtube strem... watching that was one hell of an experience.... During the Sony conference they cut the feed and eventually ran a Halo advertisement as soon as Ellie from the Last of Us was about to kiss the other girl character. Then they just started bluring the screen when there was a bit much violence during that Japanese sword fight. Then they outright started running full 30 second advertisments aimed at the elderly during the Resident Evil 2 reveal.

I'd love to see an interview with the Standards and Practices guy they had working today.

Why would Disney XD even be showing E3 coverage if they were just going to edit things out?

Looks like Death Stranding will be one of those "play how you like it" type of games, allowing the player to play it as a shooter or as a stealth/exploration game. The caveat is that Kojima recommends not playing as a shooter, making me think that there's going to be a story reason as to why frequent combat is not a good idea.

I just got back from the E3 theater stream for Sony’s press conference. Sony killed it again. From a technical standpoint, The Last of Us Part 2 is a true marvel. The stealth gameplay looks better than ever, and I’m glad that they incorporated hiding in the grass from Uncharted 4. It just makes sense for a world so overgrown. The hit detection was some of the best I’ve ever seen.

However, Ghost of Tsushima stole the show for me. I love how it contrasts the brutal destruction of war with the serene and gorgeous landscape of Japan. The gameplay looks simple, but the combat looks fluid and very fun even though they’re going with a more realistic approach. It was also nice to see actual Kendo moves and combat instead of exaggerated spinning fan blade attacks. The cinematography is phenomenal and straight out of Kurosawa films. This has the potential to do for Samurai games what Red Dead Redemption did for Western games. So far that is my game of the show.

Control was a huge and very interesting surprise. Remedy’s games seem like a much more natural fit on the PlayStation (even though it is multiplatform) than as Microsoft exclusives. That looked like some cool mind bending Inception-style stuff.

Resident Evil 2 Remake looks amazing, and I love how they revealed it.

I don’t know why Justin Roiland’s humor is funny to me, but his new VR game has me in stitches with the 7-1-1 bit.

I will admit, I’m getting a little tired of Death Stranding being so cryptic. I want to know what is going on damn it! With that being said, I’m still really interested in this game and some of its cool concepts. I’m dying to get answers to my questions and to see some combat since Kojima called it a third person action game like Uncharted.

Spider-Man still looks great, and they are really delivering on the villains. I’m glad they’re keeping the main villain a secret. I just hope it’s not Norman Osborn because that would be too obvious like the Arkham Knight reveal. The live New York gameplay they showed after the conference was very smooth too. That’s a day one purchase for me.

I do have to question the need for the extravagant set at the beginning. It wasn’t even from a Last of Us location we recognized because it was new to the demo. The intermission really halted the pacing unnecessarily, and they might as well have showed more third party stuff in between anyway.

Maybe it will be like MGS3 where the number of people you killed show up at a certain point.

Anyway, I also forgot, no Shenmue III either. I was sure that with a remastered collection of the first two coming out this year that the III one being shown was a shoe in.

I'm hoping it is Hobgoblin since he is Spider-Man's greatest unbeatable nemesis.

My guess is that they wanted free advertising for Kingdom Hearts 3, and they forgot that like 90% of games these days are rated M

I'm guessing it was like that family guy episode where Peter is going around telling a dirty/offensive joke to all the men, then that woman at his work comes up to him and says "I like jokes" and Peter just goes for it to her horror. IGN probably approached Disney about doing a "video game show conference" and some exec at the Disney channel didn't think and said "Video Games? Kids like video games!" But then the lesbian couple kissed, people started getting shot in the head, and Norman Reedus was naked in the shower while that lady ate a baby.

It's amazing how many people on GameFAQs are getting all upset over Ellie kissing another girl. It's like they didn't even bother playing the first game.

It’s actually a little depressing now that I’ve noticed more people haven’t played Left Behind. That was a genuinely great DLC that really added to an already amazing game.

Okay, the idea how the flow of the show sounded great and original. The implementation and logistics sucked.

I was watching Happy Console Gamer's PS conference review and he had a hard time understanding the whole reason for the tent. Isn't it obvious as soon as The Last of Us 2 presentation was playing that the crowd was in the exact same tent as the game?

So down for Death's Stranding and Last of Us 2.

Spider-Man is everything I wanted and hoped for, the villains look great, I could've gone for a more Spectacular Electro, but how they incorporated the starfish mask as electrical scars, is pretty sweat.

I agree with a lot of people. E3 is unnecessary in this day and age. Look at Nintendo, they show off whats coming up every few months. And Sony have PSX every year.

IMHO all E3 have become is a giant epeen fest.

I use to go every year until 4 years ago and watched it change since the early 2000s.

Yeah, at this point I feel like E3 is just there because it's tradition. It also doesn't help that this E3 is clearly the one that says this generation is practically done even though I feel it really just got started.

I would still love to go just once in my life though just to have a hands on experience of it. Same goes for SDCC.

Disappointed over the camera choice of RE2 remake. Or I guess I shouldn't call it a remake since it's not following the same gameplay style.

They've also redesigned the characters. I'm not particularly happy about that given the hardly changed the character designs in the RE1 remake, why do it here?
