Just picked up the e-hobby Skywarp and Thundercracker re-issues a couple hours ago. Well, I thought they were authentic e-hobby re-issues until I opened them up... My question: Did the e-hobby re-issues have both the names of Takara and Hasbro marked on the figures? Both these figures have Hasbro and Takara names marked on their left legs. However, I don't think either of these are the Commemorative Series versions as the years marked on the figures were only 1983, 1985, 1986 (clearly no 2000-anything). I never opened my Comm. Series Thundercracker and Skywarp, so I can't use those for reference. If someone can point out key ways to determine if I have the actual e-hobby versions or if someone stuck Commemorative Series figures in the e-hobby boxes, I'd appreciate the help.
"e-Hobby reissues"? You mean the set that was exclusive to Super Festival 21? http://www.tformers.cl/TFCollectors.html
I have both of these as well and from what you describe yes they should be genuine. Mine have the same markings you descibe and if they came in the boxes like in the link Nevermore provided they should be the real deal. And yes they were not eHobby exclusives but rather special limited edition Japanese convention exclusives these pieces were limited to 1000.
So they had both Hasbro and Takara markings??? If so, then we're good. I do mean the convention pieces; I always thought all those were e-hobby exclusives. So, boo hiss. No weapons, ...but for $30 total (card, box, inserts, instructions, sticker sheets... Skywarp's stickers were never applied), I won't complain Thanks a lot.
Sorry. That was more of a rhetorical question. I'm surprised that Hasbro's name was on there, too. I suppose whatever copyrights and trademarks, etc., explain that. Anyway, I'm just relieved to know they're authentic. If only they were complete...
Man...I pick those 2 up years ago and they cost me around US$85 each! Grrr...but I had to get them for 2 reasons. Firstly, they're weapons were closer to the originals compared to the Hasbro series. Secondly, the 1984 Autobots and Decepticons were my holy grail so I wanted to get it over and done with! By the way, congrats on your haul!
If it makes you feel any better, they usually go for a good bit more than that on ebay now. I'd like to get them all at some point but the prices are really prohibitive. Some guys list them at $250 per jet, which is freaking insane.
Whoa! Then I'm very glad I got them at that price! They were extremely difficult to find and when I saw them, I quicky snapped them up. Nowadays, I hardly see them anymore in any of the import stores in my country.
