A Laserbeak/Buzzsaw/Ratbat double-cassette minicon design for DX9's War in Pocket Sonic Wizard /Soundwave I've been working on to go with my Frenzy/Rumble design. Double-cassette Mode: Beast mode: Alternate heads: regular, squawk, peeper, eavesdrop I have to do the sprue layout yet, but I hope to have that done next week so I can order a print of this guy.
Sprue layout is coming along great. I'm using the same layout as on my Frenzy/Rumble design, which two whole sets of vulture pieces fit on. That means Laserbeak and Buzzsaw in one set. Buzzbuzz Pewpew. I hope to later add flight stand and sitting in/on someone's hand attachments in the empty rectangles before wrapping this up. Question: Does Buzzsaw have any special onscreen accessories like Laserbeak's head microphone and camera? I'll just skim through any episodes he's in later to check, but figured I'd ask in the meantime.
Yep, and they're designed so that they should catch the edge of whoever's arm he might be perched on.
Though I'm also in the process of painting Frenzy, Rumble and Buzzsaw, I was able to complete enough of Laserbeak to show him off. Laserbeak, eject. Operation: Don't Get a Cease and Desist Letter I have been so anxious to get this guy assembled. Though I had successfully assembled my Frenzy and Rumble before, I hadn't been able to do that yet with my vulture design. I knew the ball-jointed wing shoulders would work, but I didn't know how well the pole joint in the middle of the wing would turn out. The angled feet are perfect for perching on edges. I was elated when everything fit together and nothing broke while I was assembling. This was a big relief because painting took some time to do. Laserbeak, retrieve my insignia immediately. The accessories all turned out excellently as well. I made five separate heads, a 3 to 5 mm robot hand perch piece, and a 3 mm stand adapter for each vulture. Now, where is Ratbat? All in all I am very pleased with the end result, and intend to make it available on Shapeways after some minor alterations. Though the poles in the wings worked great, that joint is very stiff and needs some tweaking. Some details like the eyes and topside of wing detailing were really hard to paint, so I want to alter those a little to make them easier to complete. Lastly, the 3mm stand adapter needs a slight adjustment to make it easier to remove. Two for flinching.
Wanted to bump this in anticipation of the release. Can't wait to have all of your minions designs with my Soundwave.
The model revisions made the small details easier to paint. Thankfully the neck joints are about as wide as a toothpick, making the tiny heads manageable. I just have to finish painting the wings before wrapping these guys up. If all goes well I hope to have these available on Shapeways by the weekend.
I am not kidding in my kit instructions when I say Sadly I broke one of Buzzsaw's wings while assembling him for product shots, because I didn't put the parts together right. Pretty disappointing not only because it happened right at the end, but in such a way that I can't just make a new wing - I have to do a new body and wings.
For anyone that's following along, I'm doing a little contest while waiting to have the latest model printed. Check out this post for details on getting a free, completed prototype of this model.
Buzzsaw (G1) - Transformers Wiki here is some buzzsaw info . and in a little photo i have found he has a little sat dish on his side hope this helps
You know I'm really looking forward to seeing this on shapeways. BTW I would love to make a mold and cast of this project. Hit me up if I can help you with that.
They're coming, I promise. I'm awaiting payment for a job, which I should get in the next week, and then will be printing the latest revisions to Laserbeak and Ratbat. I believe those will be the final revisions for those, and if so, they will be available for sale in the coming weeks. Probably by the end of July. Once those are done and up for sale, then I'll be finishing off the dinosaurs before moving onto the combiner. Thanks for your interest.
It's been a bit over a month since I asked about these guys, just checking in to see if there's been any progress? still very interested in these guys.
