Yup... I got the Dark Dinobots set last week and Slag’s legs are a loosey goosey mess. I’m not sure floor polish is up to the task, but I’m going to give it a shot.

I have the original releases of the standard colors, and Slag doesn’t have that issue, so it does seem to be a quirk of the new run.

So did they fix Grimlock's inability to hold his sword properly for this set? I had the individual releases and remember Grimlock could only hold his sword sideways.

If anyone tries floor polish on Sludge’s feet and it helps, please let us know.

Sorry! Yeah, it's a shame. Otherwise they're a nice set, though. The colors look so good on the Dark set. I think in terms of QC and tolerances, Swoop is the best one in my set. Nothing too crazy loose, nothing too crazy tight.

I'd finished painting my Dinobots to match the yellow better and had forgotten to post. I don't know why they painted Grimlock's Dino-neck, considering the plastic is already yellow. I'll just keep working at it with alcohol until I get it all removed.

Only ones that needed to be fixed were Slag, Sludge and Grimlock. Left the original 'yellow' on Sludge's mechanical detail on his legs, just to have something different. Overall, I think I matched it pretty well. Could have added a little more "orange" into the paint to get closer, but it works.

Tamiya, camel yellow (TS-34) mixed with a little Chrysler Yellow from Model Master (PY3 I think). I think I mixed in too much of the Chrysler Yellow, but it doesn't bother me.

Thanks man much appreciated! Would you say the Tamiya/Model Master brand paint is forgiving? Like if I mess up I can wipe it off w/o issues or once it's on it on for good?

Tamiya Chrome Yellow (TS-47) works well too. I used that, over a white primer, on one of my MFT Dinobots.

These things look so dated now, last gen efforts. Sludge is the worst of the bunch, no ankle tilts and just looks awful standing with that V stance like he’s balancing on the insides of his feet. They didn’t even bother to fix any of the mix match paint on the rerelease. Waiting for ms or NA to do their versions like the seekers.

to each their own i guess. the dinos work for me and i like them as they are.

i highly doubt we will ever see a better set of dinos in the legends scale. these guys look great in both modes. it just cant be done and i will stick by that statement.

I really wish we would get some FoC versions from Iron Factory honestly.

I love this set, too. But I could see it being done better. The problem is that they'd be $40-$50 each, and I have absolutely zero interest in paying that much for each to complete a set. No matter how good they might be.

These guys are more than adequate. Even if Slag's back-leg transformation is really scary.

yeah I did a bit of hobby knife surgery to make that leg swing around better, as otherwise it just kept popping off.

But I agree, these are great. The complaints about the bot mode leg stance is not invalid, true the feet could be aligned more carefully, some poses aren't as powerful as they could be, some could use a waist swivel.. but these do so many things right, I feel like any gains would be cancelled out by other new cons in a different design. I love the color scheme they used, the mix of toon yellow, metallic grey, chrome, paint apps. And most of the time I leave them in dino mode so who cares about the bot feet. Unlike the NA seekers replacing the clearly outdated and clumsily proportioned DX9 seekers, these dinos are just so close on so many things to not warrant a $250 replacement set by one company or another that could be doing Legends we haven't seen yet.

  Man, the inconsistent yellows really show here.
