This continues to be my favorite Rodimus. Mostly because he's wildly underengineered compared to most 3rd party offerings these days. Carry manages to look great in both modes without needing a million tiny panels and hinges. Never once have I been worried about breaking something on this guy, and that's saying something.
I have Terror but I'm getting Carry upon reissue.
I love the elegance of the transformation design. It is lean and mean, not requiring over complication to achieve the conversion but also has enough complexity to provide a satisfying experience for those who enjoy the process of transforming their toys.
The criticisms I have of the mold is that the forearms are a bit short. It would also be nice to have a regular weapon instead of the included Target Master analog. However, it's not too difficult finding a Photon Eliminator stand-in.
Painted and added the wrist extensions. Repainted the shoulders and added a few new details.
This looks great, glad you liked them. Did you have a chance to use the gun Attachments?
Not yet. I have carry along with some other bots and some of my tools next to my bed so I work here and there. They are still in the bag and his gun is in the box. I will get to them just not for a while.
Btw guys. I got the extensions off @aprim. If you like them you should shoot him a pm.
Is there a reissue of this guy coming soon? I'm out of the loop but it looks better than the Kingdom option
They rereleased last year I believe.
He’s a totally different scale if you are looking for something size specific to replace Kingdom Rodimus Prime.
Nah I'm just looking for a good MP option
Do the wrists remove for transformation?
Shouldn’t have to. Where the fist stores is a metric ass ton of room. I’m kinda baffled they (dx9) didn’t engineer it themselves…
Finally got Carry to accompany MP-28. He's as impressive in person as other owners kept saying he is. Articulation is kind of outdated but what's there is enough to make him look good on an MP display. The paint on the diecast feet is a bit sloppy on this copy but the figure still looks very good. That "superhero chin" is awesome!
Define "better". I have both and PotP Rodimus is not remotely close to what I'd call better either aesthetically or functionally. It IS half the price and works as a decent MP stand in though, especially with open & play Big Cannon.
Again, for the 100th time since some people never get the hint, POTP Rodimus fits my sense of scale far more than Kingdom Rodimus does!
Your sense of scale being for an MP collection?
Somewhat. I like my figures being big, usually Prime Wars Trilogy Leader Class/Masterpiece sized or bigger/close to it
Uh... the comparison was PotP rodimus and DX9 CARRY (you know, the subject of this thread? The one that matches up with the MP scale Big Cannon figure? The only Rodimus you COULD have been considering PRIOR to PotP, since Commander class Rodimus JUST came out?) and they're THE SAME FUCKING SIZE.
So, yeah, if you considered Leader rodimus better than carry, that would be an interesting explanation. The only better thing about it is the price. If that was your main consideration, cool, I get it. I got the zeta aerialbots instead of FTs for that reason. But I'm not gonna act like they're actually better individual toys... they were good enough that it wasn't worth it to pay double for minor incremental improvements.
Carry ISNT a minor improvement over potp rodimus, its a whole other animal. It's twice the price but at LEAST twice as good.
omg that looks SOOO much better. the short forearms were what was keeping me from getting this years back. Any interest in making more of those? haha
