Like others, sometimes I wish there was a more OG Rodimus head to go with this design. So I decided to have a go at making one.

Originally, I did start working on a whole new head. But to me, the highly stylised nature of the rest of the figure meant that the round smiley ball of a head looked out of place. As such, I did decide to slightly stylise the newer head. I went about this by trying to retain the original back part of the head, and making my attempt line up with the original silhouette.

    This is incomplete.

I think that the excessive heat where I am this week has meant the prints are looking a bit melty.

My original mouth design has been a victim of print quality, as has the back edge (unseen in this picture)

The face and grey parts are just primer, so are obviously the wrong colour.

Shades of red and blue are 'whatever I have around shades, so again not quite right. Not to mention my poor painting skills, which look worse in photo.

The screw-hole needs improving for a tight fit.

However, this is my first public shown draft.

    Edit: Constructive feedback always welcomed!

I think a raw, unpainted one would give us a better look at the sculpt.

If you want to take an easier route, you can use the FansToys Rodimus Prime face that came with their Hoodlum and just customize it.

I see where you're going with that, but that's quite an expensive modification, given the price to purchase a Hoodlum :D

The face itself was attempted to be modeled from that TFTM scene, here's an earlier version with a different mouth, that printed even worse than this one.

    20210627_220346.jpg

Which I then attempted to put in with a version of the helmet that matched the Carry silhouette.

Printing is an art! This isn't my first bash, but I'm just a dabbler who fancied a challenge.

Faces are even more of an art.

EDIT: The photo really has made the painting look worse, I hadn't even seen those red dots around the eye until the camera highlighted them.

I did also briefly try separate face and helmet parts as per the original Carry design, but the small sizes made tolerance a nightmare.

You can probably ask if anyone has one that they are not using or contact FansToys to see if they will sell one to you. In general, not a lot of people use that faceplate.

I can appreciate your dedication, just a suggestion to help you out.

After this post, I did a bit of searching and now fully appreciate what you were getting at... I hadn't appreciated that Hoodlum came with an extra faceplate.

It's an interesting idea, I'll take another look, thanks!

Eh 80-90$ for commander class Rodimus that scales with the voyager prime he makes up for it with amazing articulation along with playability and his trailer and effect parts I wish instead of the sword of primus they woulda given him his target master instead.

EXCEPT that my sense of scale is Masterpiece/Prime Wars Leader or bigger/close to it. Since POTP Rodimus fits my sense of scale at half the price of Kingdom, there you go

Is the only way to get the Targetmaster to be held well either through transforming it differently or buying the wrist extender?

There was an upgrade kit, Cykill, Mirage, Crasher and Astrotrain.

I think this was the first.

I'd just save up the extra money before I'd get anything POTP.

I think it depends on the purpose it is to serve and wither it is intended to be functional. Do you want it as display piece that you will only change body positions for pose or do you want the playability and intend to transform him? Aesthetics aside which is more important to you?
