I have a few questions about the figure if anybody who has a prototype can answer.
    - How well does he hold his gun?
-The panel that comes off does that store in each mode? Will that be part of the final product? (I remember the promotional images saying there would be no partforming it doesn't bug me if there is though)
    -How is the foot articulation?
-Can somebody show a picture next to either Scoria or Soar just to see how big he is next to them?

Thanks in advance and can't wait to own this big guy soon hopefully.

I don't have it but can answer the panel one based on reviews watched. At the review sample stage (possible, but unlikely to change since reviewers weren't told it would, but it seems to be delayed so who knows) it is used in train and bot mode, but not shuttle mode. I believe that is without instructions so it could be that they simply couldn't figure out what to do with it in shuttle mode. They initially intended no partsforming, but ultimately decided to cover up a rather bad gap in bot mode instead, and apparently couldn't integrate it.

I was thinking the same thing regarding some thigh covers to beef up that area with additional mass. Those stick thin thighs are pretty distracting, especially when compared to an MP Seeker's thighs that actually look wider. I suppose the alt modes are adequate (train mode still bothers me with its "sausage on wheels" appearance) but bot mode is pretty decent.

I simply can not decide if I wanna pull the trigger an buy this guy or not... I love the colors, Design is nice, Shuttle mode is a lil squat but still very nice looking. The trainmode looks good and is overall very well done. ...but that botmode... it seriously leaves something to be desired for its toon accuracy in alot of places.
I think that the addition of an alternate toon accurate head would have pushed me into deciding this was an easy buy for this, but even the head is off as it is... eh... dunno...

...someone talk me into getting this.

Really? I thought the head was fairly toon accurate. Certainly closer than the Toyworld Astrotrain's.

Exactly. I don't even know what's going on with the assessment, but everyone sees things differently.

It was the scale of the head was what I was referring too. His face is accurate an look good, its his helmet. In the toon he had a "HUGE" helmet! I just meant that I wished it was larger. Face is fine tho.

In fact other than the "chunky shuttle" mode, my only real beef with the design is his feet. ... its the fact that he has "feet" that bug me. lol... as it just isnt very toy/toon looking in his legs. I wished the feet flipped further around so the bottom of the shuttle cockpit area was flush with the shins to give him that leg design we know, or were disguised with a flap to hide it more.

On that note, I wanted to ask, is there a way to make the legs lower parts to be able to look more toon /toy accurate with any addon kits or "unofficial" alt transformation methods that any of you have discovered?

Depends on how you look at it. If you think of it as a normal (existing) space shuttle (and thus the shuttle mode G1 Astrotrain had), then it looks wrong in every way.

But I can't help thinking of the pilot to the 80's Buck Rodger series in which BR flies something that looks like a small, stubby version of the space shuttle.

Thus I'm not seeing this shuttle mode as a big realistic multiperson shuttle, but more of a futuristic one or two seater.

I wonder why there's been so much radio silence on this guy? I wonder if they're altering that removable plate at all. From what I saw in the pre-production reviews, a ball joint or a hinge/swivel system would have prevented the partsforming.

    Anyone in-the-know have any insight?

A ball joint or a hinge/swivel system would work if the bot only transformed into a train, but where is that plate going to "tuck away" in shuttle mode? I think that's the main reason it's removable (at this time) in the first place. Nowhere to hide it in shuttle mode.

I don't envision it tucking away, rather than sitting flush with the bottom of the shuttle. Maybe pegging into the bottom to stay securely in place. A panel on the bottom of a space shuttle wouldn't look too out of place in my book--plus you wouldn't be looking at the very bottom of the shuttle when displayed.

Yeah to be honest, having him with Maniaking was my first thought when I started being interested in this guy, even with him being so much larger. To me, I always thought Astrotrain should've been a big ass mofo in robot mode anyway, so him being visually out of place with licenced MP figures doesn't throw me off at all.

Has DX9 said anything regarding altering that panel for the final release?
