Do you guys them from eBay much...how do they afford to sell them at those prices? I've only bought few times from them but always worry there's fakes. Many many years ago I got a burned copy of a movie so since that day I always think twice before buying discs from ebay. Or is it different now?
What price are they selling them for? It could be they picked up a bulk lot of them so the cost of each DVD is pretty small to them so they can turn a profit at a low price.
I got a burned movie once and was pretty pissed off (it was Ringu). But that was for a US release in Asia which I am very skeptical about now. I've bought plenty of releases off ebay. Though they are second to Amazon or Amazon Marketplace sellers. But 10%-15% off retail isn't that much considering Amazon has some like 40-50% off at times. Obviously set like the Breaking Bad barrel and Avengers briefcase blu ray sets you shouldn't worry about fakes, I'd say if the seller has good feedback, you'd be ok.
i've had good luck overall, though there area few sites out there that are selling used copies, so read the descriptions carefully, if that's important to you.
Not really bc sometimes the seller just uses stock covers. Is there any in particular that concerns you though and what type of collector are you? Are DVDs/blu rays still that collectible? Back in the days, DVDs like Fist of the Northstar anime movie and Criterion DVDs like Hard Boiled/Robocop were worth a pretty penny and I would have questioned back in the day. Now I mainly buy blu rays if possible and I've upgraded my DVDs into blu rays for the most part and not sure when I'd go hardcore to the point I'd care. Though the Can't Hardly Wait Blu ray is worth a lot. Don't judge me!! Some rules of thumb for me: 1. US releases by sellers based in Asia I'd question. Don't mean to stereotype here, but scenarios like these are when I got KOs back in the 2000 before blu rays. (I'm Asian if that means anything. haha) 2. DVDs are more likely to be fake than blu rays. I've never seen/heard of a fake blu ray. 3. If there's a specific DVD/bluray you're really wanting for your collection, make sure they post their own pic of the cover and esp the disc, not stock photos.
I ended up getting good a set from this guy. http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&id=251585921944&alt=web
See something like this would concern me. What I consider the real deal DVD: Ultimate Versus DVD Steelbook | eBay What looks off and a possible KOs (cover is way off) The Ultimate Versus DVD | eBay Granted I'm limited in my knowledge here, but I wouldn't get the second. I think you're ok on your Game of Thrones DVD sets though. Price isn't unreasonable and the buyer has 100% feedback. You'd assume that someone would report that they received a KO.
Got my three seasons today and season 3 has two cracked disc...season 1 seems play well and looks real The seller said sorry ill send you another season 3. I've never seen a cracked DVD ever out of package..no idea how it happened.
I've order a 1956 movie on Blu-ray from ebay. It was cheaper than Amazon, so I hope it won't be a bootleg.
