Hey guys I wanted to buy a boxset of dvd's off of ebay and the description says they are dvd-9's what does that mean?

I figure maybe it means they are a 9 quality out of 10? :huh

 

it means the discs are dual layered and thusly contain up to 8.5 GB of date

most players may suffer a slight pause when it reaches a layer change



for someone to mention that in an ebay auction seems weird... could possibly meaning DL as in recorded on DL media, are they supposed to be bootlegs?

 

I believe so it is english sound but you can turn off chinese subtitles lol.

How often do these layer changes happen?

 

hmm, bootlegs... the DVD9 means they'll cram more episodes on the discs then, maybe the bitrate wont be so low per ep that way... it'd just happen once and if episodic content the change could be inbetween episodes and thusly completely unnoticable

MOST movies released are on a DVD9 anymore
