Well guys I just got an idea for some Duobots somehow to rival the Duocons. Here are my ideas. Skyracer: Upper body a jet Lower body a racer car with a blaster on the roof The second one is kinda a combination of Flywheels and Battletrap. Flighttrends: Upper body a helicoptor Lower body a tank Now these are just ideas and don't know if they would be customs. Maybe down the road.
I'm actually working on a Battletrap, here is the only pic I have so far: This custom dates back to 2004 and the days of Transtopia. brr-icy commented about how he is surprised I'm not using Bulkhead for the copter portion, well it's simple really....I don't own him and he's a bit pricey to buy, so I'm converting Jetfire into a helicopter.
Technically hasbro did the duobots idea in the energon toy line. wich seems to have been more inspired from the 1989 takara TF victory landcross toys. I always felt hasbro missed a huge oppurtunity not doing decepticon 2-in-1 Energon deluxes & voyagers figures.
I'd say there's a lot of good to be said about Tigermegatron's post there. I'd think you could make some deluxe Duocons out of some of those molds. Overhaulimus proves it out of some of the larger ones as well.
The g1 duocons failed in terms of being complete crap in terms of articulation. On a certain level I suppose they have some potential as being a cool idea. Does their unique ability give them a more vast intelligence that they are able to separate their awareness into two components? The idea of a tank for feet or even a truck seems to play hell with scale. It might be better to go into something more like how wing sabre combines with optimus prime where parts of him break off to combine with the other robot. If you look at the 'toon version of Flywheels, his plane is really a joke when he goes into robot mode: Mathius
Thats a good question I posted this for maybe spark someone's imagination to do something like this, but I seen some of them, but they were Duocons. But having the idea of Duobots would make things seem kinda even. I that makes any sense.
