Depends on if this render will actually be accurate.

Vern rants! @OakhurstStudios posted these comparisons on twitter, I’m happy enough with the Hasbro versions flawed as they are, but definitely getting the shadow demons

I'm sorry, didn't Hasbro's attempt just get clearanced out? What makes Super7 think an extra couple of hands and heads is worth more than double the price?

Would be interesting to see S7 make a cartoon Warduke. The NECA one of course would be the better buy given the detail, size and price, but still interesting to see the contrasting differences.

The fact you can make a fantasy universe with your old filmation Motu ultimates and the thundercats?
Also people that collect ultimates already know what articulation these will have.

Eh Super 7, like these figures won't have their share of quality control issues. Plus how many years will it take for them to release all six kids? And if the final figures look as good as these renders I'll eat my hat. :rolleyes2

Damn it. So these aren't even the same scale? I was tempted to buy Dekkion, but I'm not replacing the whole line. These just don't look good enough for that. Complain about Hasbro all you want, but these things aren't ever moving out of my display case so the limited posing isn't really a factor for me.

I would love these, but I already completed the Hasbro line.

unexpected, these new Ultimates toon figures...I wonder how long they were in development before Super7 realized the Hasbro versions were flopping at retail?

I don't see people clamoring for these at $55 when the Hasbro versions had trouble selling at $25 pricepoint...

I do like how they are delving into the monsters, but that Shadow Demon pack is pretty underwhelming at that pricepoint again...

Do the energy effects come off of Hank's bow? Is Sheila's net specific to some episode? (I can imagine her using it or getting caught in it)...invisibility would be tough to pull off without doing a completely clear transparent figure (something I am not ruling out given how Super7 likes to reuse molds) but I'm a bit disappointed she doesn't come with some sort of effect the way the Hasbro one did...

If the line somehow continues, I imagine they'll do two more kids and a couple monsters next time...their Dungeon Master will certainly look a lot better than Hasbro's attempt...maybe they could somehow swing a gigantic Tiamat, or a Venger on steed at the very least...

I'm not sure I believe it, but allegedly Hasbro is looking to sell the DnD IP to Tencent

Apparently the article people are referring to says this

“A Tencent IEG (Interactive Entertainment Group) insider revealed that Tencent, represented by its overseas business department IEG Global, is in negotiations with the aim of acquiring a series of rights including the adaptation rights for electronic games such as DND.”

Tencent has a stake in Larian and supposedly Larian brought it up. So it's just rights and licenses not an actual purchase.

That's what I was figuring since DnD is one of Hasbro's larger properties (yea, yea, it doesn't make as much money as MtG, but it's still one of their larger IPs) and they're in the middle of the 2024 refresh plus it's nearing it's 50th anniversary, plus Hasbro doesn't typically let go of IPs, even when they sell off companies they've acquired.

Here's an article. Mind you, the article even says to take the news with a grain of salt until something is formalized.

Tencent Reportedly Looks To Purchase Massive Dungeons & Dragons IP (msn.com)

I can actually see Hasbro dumping DnD, to be honest. It doesn't fit their portfolio well at all. Heroquest is much more in their wheelhouse (it's a board game, easy to make, easy to sell campaign modules, none of the drama) and they really should look to move their brand energy towards that instead. And they can "Monopolize" the brand, too, by doing cross-property licensed games. Heroquest x Zelda. Heroquest x Mario. Heroquest x Game of Thrones. Heroquest x Stranger Things. Etc, etc, etc. Just write up a handful of quest narratives and release a custom set of figurines and cards versus DnD, where stuff like that often feels like forcing a square peg into a round hole.

Roll For Combat is doing a Mimic dice holder with their upcoming hardcover backer kit and it'll be free for the first 48 hours. It's size is pretty good and would work well with the DnD figures

Nice, didn't know it was already out there. I know they're partnering with whoever is making them. From what they said on their podcast today they're all hand sculpted and painted.
