Looks a lot better than the kiddy looking DS... I think I might pick one up since we have a PSP as well and waiting for games on THAT thing is like watching grass grow...
DS Lite is sold out in japan. online stores that secured some are charging 300+ for them, and the prices keep rising. in japan, even used original DS systems go for 200 and up. They've even resorted to importing US systems to japan, which sell out in moments. Way to go nintendo!
Whats really interesting here is that Nintendo's strategy of opening up the gaming market seems to be working very very well. Older people and girls were lined up for that thing. If Nintendo can push that market into the home console market too, the Nintendo Revolution is going to sell like crazy. Go Nintendo!
I hope that when they bring this here they give the original DS the better screens like they did with the GBA SP after the Micro came out. I have very large hands and the mini sizing does not work well for me.
I can't wait for this thing in the US. I read over on the pocketheaven forums that passme 2 works on it but there's a new firmware. Hopefully the lite will be hackable by the US release. I think I'm the only one who understood a thing I just said.
I liked seeing the people waiting in line for the DS Lite that were playing their regular DS. Still not sure if I'll be getting it since I just got a DS for Christmas, but still the Lite looks sweet.
dont know maybe If I have spare money and give it to my sis, for the webbroser has tons of uses for both of us, and we both live in seemeingly wireless areas
Hmm, yep I think I'm sold on this unit. Been planning on buying one anyway so probably will wait on this model to hit.
I hear ya. I've been holding off buying it until I hear confirmation that it works. If it doesn't work, this might be suitable http://www.gamechosun.co.kr/site/data/img_dir/2006/03/02/200603020000194XGP02.jpg It uses SD cards which is nice for emus and mp3s. Plus it is small like the micro. It will most likely work for nes, snes, gen, etc, but not gba as that scene has been progressing very slowly. Rumor has it that it will retail for $150.
I really can't say if I'll get one until I hold it in my hands. There will have to be be a considerable size/weight difference.
I'll be giving this a miss, theres barely enougth meat on my regular DS for my big man hands to grasp.
I'm still not sold on the double screen thing, but I applaud Nintendo for not trying to "compete" with Sony's craptacular machines and Microsoft's wannabe PC-but-without-mouse-keyboard. I am most definitely buying Revolution, possibly the Japanese one, just because they are trying something very different. No built in DVD shit, no hard drives, none of the other multimedia crap. It's going to be what it should be - a video gaming machine.
Am I the only one thinking that a hard drive in a gaming console was one hell of a brilliant move? Alright, maybe not brilliant, but you get my point. And I have been holding out on a DS because of this. Might just pick this up. Wonder if they'll do a Micro DS though, I can already see my mom thinking that the stylus would be a toothpick.
