Why does Dropkick have more rotor blades while in his robot form? Is it just a mistake?
I don’t know, is that piece of art final?
You can see it here
They probably originally had selected a heli with 4 blades, but went with the single blade and didn't end up changing the bot mode CGI model. I doubt it's a mistake, rather something they didn't think they needed to invest time (and as a result money) into fixing it.
the robot mode uses kibble from the modern version of the heli used in the film
It's due to transformation.
I'm not criticizing, I loved the movie, I just asked because I noticed it.
Yeah, I thought that maybe the blade split in half, that's what probably the logical explanation.
That same guy can also turn into a blue car 1/3rd the size and mass of that grey helicopter. Maybe his transformation just involves splitting the rotors in half so one in robot mode has 1/2 the width of the rotor in vehicle mode.
I don't think there is even an "in universe's explanation. Like a lot of things in the Transformers movies it was probably done for the sake of visual flair more than anything else. He turns into a Supercobra and at no point does the Supercobra have more than 2 rotors.
While the AH-1Z Viper has 4 rotors that helicopter wasn't conceived until the 2000s, and after lengthy development was put into service in 2010.
