I am sorry if this has been discussed as if it has I missed it but does anyone know if it's been confirmed that Drift is a triple changer?

Hasn't been confirmed, but there have been evidence to support the idea.

I don't understand how some gigantic aircraft can transform into a small car, and then transform to slightly-larger-than-Crosshairs robot.

    But OK.

How can Lockdown transform into a small, slim Lambo? But then be the same height as Optimus? Mass shifting bro.

Lockdown is tall yes, but he's not as tall as OP and lockdown is very slender. So I can see how he could be the lambo. But in fairness, lambos are very wide cars so again its a bit deceiving as more mass could fit into that mode than we think IMO.

Yeah, Lambos are not small and slim. They are fairly low but they are long and very wide for a car.

Oh, okay. :)  I always thought they were slim because whenever you see a picture of one, they're always at an angle. :)

Lockdown is very skinny while optimus is buff. also the Lamborghini is actually a pretty big car, bigger than crosshairs and drift at least.

magically adjusting scale is nothing new. F22s are huge, this is what size one is next to a car:

    And yet:

you could barely even fit someone's leg into the tiny cockpit on starscream's chest, let alone a whole person. The cockpit should be about the size of a small car.

According to Robert Orci - their is 'no mass shifting' for the robots - however he said this when TF1 was the only film.

As far as I can tell their have been no further comments on the situation - so any issues with scale come from production errors.

As such 'Mass Shifting' when used to refer to the movies is the same as "The Doctor Lies" scenario for Doctor Who - essentially both are used to explain plot holes and inconsistences and as an excuse for anyone supporting the episode.

Helicopters are not necessarily 'gigantic'. The one that Blackout turned into was a huge military transport helicopter but a smaller helicopter could actually have a similar mass (which isn't the same thing as size, given that aircraft are usually built out of less dense material to start with and have more space inside) to a smaller ground-based vehicle.

For a similar comparison check out the stats for Starscream and Brawl's alt modes. Starscream's dimensions are bigger but Brawl's mass (i.e. what he weighs in alt mode) is actually way bigger).

Mass doesn't automatically equal dimensional size.

Maybe its a cybertronian helicopter that happens to have a similar amount of mass as a bugatti
