There have been many theories about Drift switching alt modes between his Bugatti and helicopter. But what if he was both and was just a triple changer. Any thoughts on that theory?
Doubtful. A helicopter and a Bugatti is too much of a size difference in my opinion. Probably just scans another mode.
There was 1. The Mixmaster Constructicon that Jetfire killed in ROTF. Truck to robot to large gun. His toy was even labeled with his third mode.
I would assume Helicopter mode is his initial Decepticon mode. Due to the size difference between a car and chopper, maybe he takes severe damage and needs to reformat. Once he fully changes sides, maybe the car makes more sense to become a true autobot. I doubt he is a triple changer.
Very true. Add the fact that he also changed into a Mercedes-Benz SLS, which is about the same size as a Bugatti
Sure it is. The toy gives pretty explicit instructions on how to change him to gun mode, plus when he transforms to gun mode in the movie, you clearly hear the transformation noise, and his body changes form.
Taking this moment to once again remember how badass ROTF Megs was. Easily my favorite of the 3. Mass shifting aside, I'd be okay with Drift being a triple changer. Would be something different.
Uh Mixmaster is hard to consider a triple changer in my opinion. Yes, Mixmaster had that cannon mode aside from his robot mode but all he did was stand on his arms, while the rest of his lower body stayed the same. I know the ILM team could put more emphasis for that mode but sadly that's all we got. Soundwave on the other hand should be the best candidate for a triple, even a quadruple changer but hey, I'm not the director.
actually if you look at megatron's tank mode then compare it to his flying tank mode it appears to change a bit in appearance
Well, we know for certain that Drift is both a helicopter and a car. The only question is if he can be both at the same time (not literally, but you know what I mean), or if he simply re-scans and forgoes the first vehicle for the new one. I don't have that answer, but either a new trailer, TV spot or the eventual film itself will reveal it for us in time I guess.
Think there's something unique about drift......looks to me like hes gonna have on hell of a role. But yes there's been plenty of 3rd modes in the movies and when you think about it once theyve scanned something it obviously is stored somewhere otherwise thwyd have to rescan all the time...so yes i think drift has both vehicle modes scanned and stored at the same time.
