It would make them among the first to do a paint scheme based on the gestalt rather than the parts, which I kind of like. It definitely tells of which mode they intend him to be displayed in.

More I look at these guys, the more I see G1 heads stuck on Bumblebee-verse bodies.

Or more Bee-verse bodies injected with G1.

Though I don't mean as a negative, but definitely a hybrid of those two aethetics.

 

My money is on them being Zeta sized, maybe a smidgen bigger. Certainly a beast.

 

While I expect him to be closer in scale to MMC Assaultus, I truly feel that given the stylized aesthetic, that he would have been perfect alongside Generation Toy Gravity Builder and Guardian (whenever the heck that completes) and Transformission Havok.

Going up against the other more G1ish combiners seems off.

I think he's in the 20" range, making much bigger than any of them

 

If 20" is the officially quoted size to the head and not the tips of the shoulder/nosecones, than yeah I'd agree definitely more in scale with Zeta Combiners.

I absolutely wasn't expecting this to be in scale with GT or TFM combiners, I just think aesthetically it goes more than with the more G1 looking and less stylized Combiners in the Zeta or Fans Toys scale.

 

He is going to be displayed alongside those combiners in my collection.

Why 01?

I would like to know if they plan to release another one with G1 Original Colors.
And...I would like to know this BEFORE I burn my Money for this Version at ShowZStore.
I will buy this Monster, but I really would like to know in advance if they plan to release him
with different Paint Version.

 

01 because its their first figure pretty much how every other 3P company do so with their own figures.

 

if you ask me, I find this color scheme a bit refreshing compared to the color G1 scheme. The whole thing look cohesive enough and it is a good alternative to those who wanted something beyond G1

 

Ah okay. So the Overall Figure
is meant with 01.

Color is awesome. But at the same time it takes away what made the Planes Bots
Unique. Their Individual Colors.
Now I can not even tell who is Slingshot and who is Fireflight, unless I take a closer look to the Heads. But in Jet Mode all Silver, it is hard to tell who is who at first sight.

 

I agree, this looks like one bot and really pushes the "team" dynamic. There's no members, no distinguishing where they end. There's only the team when joined. Its a cool interpretation of the combiner ethos, after all they were made to counter another combiner team so the gestalt should be the definitive aspect.

It'd be awesome to see an all-black Menasor with red, copper, and silver highlights everywhere.

 

I'm interested to see more - they look stylistically similar to the stylised Predacons that are in the midst of being released.
Kinda somewhere between TFC toys combiners and Bumblebee Movie appearance.

I'd have had kittens on the spot if they'd done stand alone robots like this based on something like the Predator planes or Skyscorchers, or Trakkons/Lightformers. Though realistically speaking if they'd wanted to establish a niche perhaps some Seekers might have been a better start (as you can repaint them forever) so they are a good money maker... even if they can likely get 3 decos out of these guys if they wanted too.

The Illuminators/Laserrods or Calcar would look really cool with this robot style too.

(Speaking of taking a risk) I keep expecting someone to be gutsy and make some Pretenders that look like actual pretenders (not just random Mechanical Bludgeon tanks toys).

 

Yeah, I kind of like this approach as well. IIRC, the only G1 combiners introduced with a unified color scheme were Devastator and (arguably) Defensor.

 

I can tell them apart by the jet modes alone.

 

I am digging it. And I've honestly not been impressed with any of the Superion offerings for 3p. I do kind of wish there were some more accents. It's fine on the torso, but I think the limbs could do with some more red, etc, but it's a minor quibble, really. I'm down for this.
