I found and bought SS3 Goku today. *Sigh* He is a backheavy mess. I'm going to try to use clear nail polish on his torso joint and see if that makes a difference. Otherwise, I'm going to have to buy a stand for him.

It's such a shame. The figure looks great. A HUGE improvement from the initial Super Saiyan Goku figure. The face sculpt is so on point. I don't see how this got past the prototype phase the way it is.

    Finally saw the entire line.
Looks like I'll get the model kit versions of DBZ

There's something lacking on these versions.

It is weird, there are bits that show thought was put into it. The connector for the two halves of hair works well and how the hair is printed in the liner of the packaging was a nice touch. There is also a scary amount of thought put into the prevention of head swaps. They pop off almost as easily as the hands but they all seem uniquely keyed. If the heads where on standard double ball joints the line would find a lot more open shelf space.

I didn't think this line would go so far. I thought it would be a few waves to commemorate the current show similar the Robot Spirits line. I also thought that TRU would send Bandai America wherever Playmates and Voltron ended up. So at least at this point you you have a better concept of what these lines can do. I say do some in hand comparisons as well. This line is way more durable than the model kits. You'll snap thin layers of the models before you finish them and the resulting figures feel egg shell-y. Both lines have their give and takes.

My collection is a mix of Figuarts, Model Kits, and Drsgon Stars.

Figuarts are the best looking, but floppy.

Dragon Stars give cheap filler for certain characters with similar, but inferior, articulation.

The models are slighty bigger and do come apart a little too easy. The the hard plastic for muscles have an odd texture and shape (too smooth and defined). But the models come with energy blasts and are as articulated like a Figuarts. Theyre made fornpainting and customizing, so they can look the best with some work. Theyre also notnin scalenwith the other two lines. Theyre bigger. So I only use it for villains, and blue Gogeta (Its a fusion, I cam accept that being a little bigger)

They do look good, they're fun to build, and the articulation is there. I just want an action figure at the end but it's a model and feels like one. There are good reasons to buy them I just think they're a bit brittle to focus a collection on. I only see the figures at retail, if I saw the pods I would pick them up to use with my Dragon Stars figures. I doubt I have room for the time machine though.

Yeah. Yhe models have a lot of potential, but if you dont paint them, they also look incredibly dull.and flat. Everything being molded in solid color, including all the muscles.

Update of SS3 Goku: I applied clear nail polish on the torso joint, and it has helped a bit but even with the polish it's not not a perfect solution. It's better than nothing, though.

Just really bummed out by the SS3 figure. Oh well.

Yeah everyone's arms are super long; I've noticed with this line that they seems to just copy the figure-rise models, even down to the included hands.

And while I don't collect this line, because I do prefer the figure-rise models because they just look better & have blast effects, even if you have to build 'em first, I do think Gohan and... Gogeta(?) look pretty good.

Just a heads up - Kid Buu and SS kid Gohan are available in my part of the world (Asia) so they should be out in the US soon.

As usual the scale is off but Buu and Gohan are still shorter than Goku.

I may grab a few to mess around with my kids!

Oh man, I was just thinking today that this line needs a Krillin! And now I see this!

I’m going to at least get Frieza, Cell, Kid Buu, Piccolo, Krillin and from there I’ll pick and choose.

I hope Bandai America redo base Goku and Vegetable as the heads seem too squish-ed?

Welp, probably gonna get SS4 Vegeta now that I've gotten Goku.

But do not like Gogeta's hair at all.

Here's a comparison pix of SH Figuarts, Dragon Stars and Figure rise Goku

    Father (Goku) and son (Gohan)

I realised now why series 1 Goku (base form) is off...the body isn't muscular enough. I tried a head swap with Gohan's body and overall the figure looks good. Only problem is that the neck peck on Gohan's body is too small.

If BOA reissues Goku (base form) with this body, I'll buy it. TBH I prefer Dragon Stars because the figures are taller.
