The movie's posters are everywhere, and I thought it was a typical horror movie until I saw who directed it.

Rotten Tomatoes currently giving it an unbelievable 100% rating. Now i have to watch this and Terminator : Salvation this week. :(

Who has watched, or want to watch it ?

It is a good date movie.
I am making plans to see it with a girl i know possibly next weekend. enough BOO! moments to keep her interest, and some gallows humor for me.

There is one Caveat to it: who the hell makes a movie like this rated PG-13? Come on, Sam! To heck with mass appeal, pay tribute to your loyal DEADITES and scare the hell outta us for old times' sake.

and from what i have read about T:S, That's the true horror movie.
(will pass tll it hits the shelf.)

Female lead looks awful, also die clean white man from town.

Might see it some day on DVD, but not as into Raimi now as I was 15 years ago or whatever.

Not interested. I've never been a fan of the theme (in this or other films akin to this) so that's an automatic no go for me. Beyond that, it just looks flatly unimpressive and dare I say...boring.

It's been a while since a movie in today's Hollywood can actually raise my pulse, get my heart pumping, and genuinely make me scream. The last movie capable of that was the original Final Destinatiion.

Not a single film since has had the punch, kapow, oomph, whatever...to sell it.

    Funny you say that, ArmadaJetfire.
I saw EVil Dead whne i was 11- Scared me to death.
But now, i giggle at it. like when Ash gets tired of the demon chick and just starts bitch-slapping her.

A horror movie i have always considered a dark comedy was ALIEN. I can't help but laugh as the crew hunt down this little lizard thingy and they always die looking up at the 9 foot tall bastard right before the bite.

Maybe you guys here are right- modern horror just ain't the same and DMtH may be more of the same-o.
but i am willing to give it a shot.
(hey, i have seen worse turds on dates before)

I've never been keen on Sam Raimi's work; I found the Evil Dead films boring and over-rated and the Spider-Man films just flat-out bad. Not that I'd flat-out dismiss something he's involved in, but he doesn't have a great track-record for me. Drag Me to Hell just looks boring and generic and I can't see Raimi being able to do anything interesting with the premise.

Wife and I have a date to see it Friday afternoon, and I'm thrilled. It'll be the first time I see a Rami horror flick in the theater.

From what I've been hearing, the trailers are a bad representation of the film. This is, for all intents and purposes, Evil Dead 4, with all the carnage and humor you've come to expect... minus The Chin.

I was dragged to go see this earlier today, and was pretty entertained. Had some creepy moments imho, and lots and lots of gross moments. Ending was a tad predictable, but there was a lot.. a LOT of evil dead humor though. I enjoyed it, but wouldn't watch it again anytime soon.

Bah! Clearly not the right fan for the film. This is the best American horror film I've seen in ages, and maybe the scariest film Rami's done (let's be honest - the ED movies were more funny than scary). Mrs. Gannush is an instant horror icon (maybe the first since Captain Spalding). Great sound design (really, don't watch this at home on a crappy sound system), and the digital FX were, for the most part, subtle (there was one scene I can think of where it was obvious and distracting, but it was a scene played for laughs anyway). There is plenty of humor - including a bit right out of Looney Toons, and the best ever line reading of "You bitch!" - but it is not nearly as significant as it was in the Dead films. The ending is predictable (sort of - you know what the "twist" is going to be, though its hard at first to figure out exactly how the circumstances will play out), but the final scene is so well executed I don't think it matters.

Fantastic movie. Lots of jumps and some good laughs. Best horror movie I've seen in years.
