Are the in-space pics of the hook in the listing actual colored product shots and not CGI renders? They look like it.

 

Does the color of this boom match the Hasbro or Takara Devastator?

 

Although I have little hope of anyone answering, I'll just ask away anyway.

Does this have the cartoon-accurate purple detailing Takara's Hook has? I'd like an extending crane, but I don't want to sacrifice cartoon-accuracy or test my below-mediocre painting skills by doing so.

What I want to see made, is one that can bend down in combined mode like Maketoys Green Giant's.

 

If only it had a purple shaft. Oh well, money saved, I guess.

 

My only question is how do you install it? There are no screws... does it just come out with force... seems dangerous to me?

 

Dr. Wu's done it again! It is a shame that HasTak left out even the most basic truck features in both their versions of the Constructicons.

MixMaster's drum should rotate, Long Haul's bed should tilt, BoneCrusher, Scrapper & Scavenger need their blade/buckets and/or arms to articulate, and Hook's boom-arm should extend. Their 30+ year old Diaclone progenitors could all do as much as that, sheesh!  

This hook-arm and some version of the MixMaster G1 cab-cover are the only 3P add-on parts that I'm tempted to buy for my Devy, besides possibly the ReproLabel set. I don't really want to spend more on another MixMaster. I just wish I could buy the cab-cover separately.

 

Mixmaster's G1 toy couldn't rotate his drum, and Scrapper actually got an extra shovel joint in the new version.

Also, call me anal over this, but I really want Dr. Wu to do a v2 that matches the cartoon colors (purple shaft etc) to use on UW Devs. I do NOT want to sacrifice cartoon-accuracy for a gimmick, even if that gimmick is a very much required one.

 

Hi Autoboty, I just double-checked, and my G1 & G2 Yellow MixMasters have a tech-detail sticker on their drums that I can rotate quite easily out of sight for truck modes. The other G1 mixer, Double TargetMaster QuickMix is the G1 fig that can't. Maybe that's what you remembered?

Anyway, I excuse CW Long Haul for not having his bed/tray tilt, because of his alteration and transformation and Hook's lack of crane rotation for the same reason. Those truck features would have needed to have been incorporated into their design from the beginning, I suppose. Otherwise, the added articulation I desire would not impede transformation or accuracy. Those omissions were done with economizing in mind, of that I'm obdurately convinced.

At any rate, I'm glad to have some fairly inexpensive 3P add-on options, but again, it is a shame that they're even needed.

kind of pointless when the hook can't move very far, and the crane base can't rotate either.

Will be nice to get a MP Devastator some day that has all the working vehicle parts such as the crane, and working bucket on long haul, etc.

 

Has there been anything more reliable than a rumor regarding an MP Constructicon/Devastator set? Has anyone from the Takara design team even hinted at the possibility of it, or acknowledged the collector desire for one?

It would be potentially, the most advanced Transformers Masterpiece ever, if and when it was done, but how big or small would it be, and what would it cost? Being a Masterpiece doesn't necessarily mean it would be Titan sized.

If absolutely no corners were cut, and it had great articulation, cartoon-accuracy, full paint, accessories galore, with chrome/silver wheels, rubber tires/treads, all the truck features and movements, with some die-cast, retractable visor, LED eyes, and be sold all-at-once in an ultimate boxed-set, then it might be worth a $600.00 price-tag.

 

I'm hoping that the TW set will have most of the features you listed, plus WORKING dozer tracks!

Still don't understand how you get the old crane out of the toy?

Doesn't seem like it just pops out without damaging something?

There are no screws for that backpack, but there are pins?

I'd love that, it would save me a decent amount of shelf space. I loved that feature from GG. I don't need it to extend.
