That really stinks. A ton of people were looking forward to this.

 

Maybe they got inside info that Fanstoys is planning a Devastator, and decided it would be pointless to compete. I can dream.....

Doctor Wu only made small accessories before, I think this was their first full figure. Based on how some of their small things fall apart, I wonder if this had a lot of structural issues.

 

Rest In Peace, G1 accurate upgrade version of CW Mixmaster, you will be missed even though your time was short !!

Time to move on, ...now I wonder if I can bash the TW Mixer onto CW Devy.. sooo hate the CW Mixmaster !!!

 

I think this is likely. Designing, making molds, testing, etc a full figure is certainly a much taller order than making accessories. Especially if Wu was putting up the upfront costs himself, I could easily imagine things going over budget and getting behind schedule. While a lot of people still wanted this, I'd have to think that at least some of them have since moved on to TW or GT's Devastators. It's a shame, but what can you do?

Cancelled?? What?!? Noooooooooooooo. I wanted this guy badly. What happened? UW Mixmaster is so terrible and I really like the rest of the set.

 

Yeah, I kind of wish someone else would take up the mantle and bring something like this to market.

 

I'm not surprised it got canceled. I'm sad for those who wanted it, but I didn't find it necessary once the cab add ons were created. That, plus Dr. Wu's previous track record of high price, low quality and an overabundance of waiting periods just all signaled failure.

 

If you guys listen to that podcast that was recently posted, Chris S. shares some insights on what he believes happened with this figure as a result of a number of unfortunate coincidences. Suffice it to say that Dr. Wu cares deeply about quality and would not release something that is not up to his standards.

Perhaps he will appear to help clear things up a bit.

Me too. A cab add-on only works for combined mode - Mixmaster's alt mode is still ass-backwards even with a cab slapped on. It really needs a full figure to put things right. Maybe we can petition Wu to release this, or to let someone else make it?

 

I posted that comment before I saw the podcast. I actually have more respect for Dr. Wu now that than I did before. Seems as though they actually care somewhat about the products they're putting out.

I hope you guys at Dr. Wu can get it together again

I'm really thinking about cutting that figure to fit onto CW Devy.

I just need to see a comparison shot in leg mode , made sure it's doable before I part with $$$$$$.

Yep, just wished the people at the top weren't so greedy and actually cared about the consumer enough to want a quality product being produced.

 

Any chance you can summarize his insights? I won't have time to listen to the podcast for quite a while unfortunately.  

 

Does it mean that he is not able to release a quality full figure?

Hope someone will release this, or at least a transformable alt mixer drum, and why not, a kit to masterpiecify CW Devy with hole fillers and articulated hands for the individual figures.
