Alternatively a small piece of tissue or paper towel would also work as a non-permanent solution.

Actually, nail polish IS a non-permanent solution... Should you happen to fuq up in any type of manner they make this ultra rare solution called.....wait for it.....NAIL POLISH REMOVER! :p

Just got mine in a few days ago before Christmas.
They are a very nice update to the G1 version, tho not without it's flaws.

Both alt modes are pretty damn good.
Robot mode is great and has better articulation than most core class figures from HasTak.

My only gripes are that they have basically no micro cassette details.
Raindance is a little on the hollow side in cassette mode, and I wish they had gone more for the G1 look than the IDW.
In particular, I don't like that they recreated the IDW error of using Squawktalk's weapons instead of giving him the missiles.
(Tho, now I'm curious if those guns can be swapped with the missiles that come with Chatter.)
And the last thing I would have liked better is if Slam Dance's mini guns had remained separate from the rocket launchers.

All in all, I'm happy with them.
And I'm still going to get Chatter and the Scout set.
(Although, I really hope Dr.Wu makes a Chatter 2.0 since Sword Dancer is kinda way better IMO.)

You ain't lyin', lol... Side-by-side they do look vastly different from each other, almost as if they were made by two different companies even. One resembles an official HasTak release while the other looks like a 3rd party release that didn't quite have the same budget.

Tell me how your toys hold up after using acetone to remove fingernail polish from toy plastic.

Done it plenty of times and it works just fine. Have you ACTUALLY tried it yourself??? I'm not talking about soaking the plastic in the fingernail polish remover! I've only used it on balljoints and not on any painted parts so I'm not sure if it would strip paint off but it would seem likely to do so... If the nail polish is too thick for the ball joint to fit properly you can thin it with fingernail polish remover and a q-tip, period. I have NEVER observed any damage done to the plastic, ever.

I used to apply krazy glue but didn't care for the white appearance that it leaves behind when dried. So I started using fingernail polish but found that it was more viscous than krazy glue and therefore would get a bit too thick for the ball joint to fit properly. A Q-tip and a dab of my girl's fingernail polish remover did the trick just fine. I have since learned that a very thin coating works best. So to answer your question, my figures have held up just fine using fingernail polish remover...

Acetone is a solvent and melts/breaks down ABS plastic. It's not "just me not trying it," it's chemistry. It may look fine for a while, but I wouldn't trust that method in the long term, nor would I ever advise anyone else to use it on their figures.

But hey, it's not my money. You do you.

If you pour fingernail polish remover on ABS plastic you MUST leave it on there in order for the plastic to soften bro... If you remove fingernail polish using a dab of fingernail polish remover it won't damage the plastic. That's why I asked if you have ever ACTUALLY tried it yourself. I take it that you haven't!

EDIT: Also, I'm referring to thinning out the fingernail polish, not applying the remover to bare plastic. Even after applying the remover it still takes several strokes to thin that stuff out and it never really reaches the plastic. I have never had a problem doing this and I've had my WST figures for well over 10 years with NO noticeable damage done to the plastic.

I've used acetone to remove hardened chemicals from TFE & PFA plastics that are rated to contain or repel solvents like acetome, but no, I haven't ACTUALLY tried it myself on ABS plastic because I understand how chemistry works, bro. And yes, even "wiping a dab" of acetone on a joint is plenty to weaken the plastic in seconds. If you're wiping enough to penetrate and remove the fingernail polish, then you're hitting the plastic with it. It may not be apparent for some time, but it's a simple chemical reaction and it is happening even if you can't see it. There's also plenty of other people's evidence to show that using acetone on ABS plastic is a bad idea, probably far more than the pro-acetone camp.

So again, you do you. It's your money and your figures, but I also wouldn't be spreading your anecdotal evidence as fact.

Once again, I have had my WST figures for well over 10 years with NO DAMAGE done to the plastic whatsoever.

You think if we ask very nicely, he'll give us a true SG version along with a gold repaint?

I want a SG version of this, but most importantly, I want a tease or something that they’re doing another set of cassettes. I love these guys.

I'd love it if they tackled Ramhorn and Steeljaw, Blaster feels incomplete without those two and I can't see how Hasbro would end up releasing them. Overkill and Slugfest would be a very close second choice, but Soundwave already has a decent armada of mini-cassettes.

How long after Squakbox's release was Slamdance announced?

If I remember right, it was between 6 month to maybe a year after. They had the prototype images out for a fairly long while, then the colour versions, but the release itself took a fair amount of time (another 6 month to a year depending of which announcement you go with). Time kinda flew by for the last 3 years for me, so I might be completely wrong though...

I think Hasbro will eventually get to Ramhorn, Steeljaw, and even Overkill and Slugfest. I think Dr Wu should continue what they’ve been doing well and do the other two combiner cassette sets.. they could sure use an update!

Just like they eventually got to Buzzsaw, right? :p  Only been waiting on that one for 5 years (I still say it should have been Buzzsaw in the Netflix Soundwave release.

It totally should have been Buzzsaw… I think Hasbro will eventually do all of the cassettes as Core like Rumble. God knows some of them could use the budget.

I think they might get to a lot of the main ones at least, but then we've also gotten most of Soundwave's main tapes. Only ones really missing from the main ones (main in my mind being ones that appeared in Sunbow) are Rewing (rumored to be with Twincast), Steeljaw, Ramhorn and Buzzsaw.
