From what I can tell, the G1 version has a red face while the normal has a pink face.

 

The newer G1 accurate figure has grey sections as opposed to the incorrect white sections of the initial release... Also the face is now painted a deep red color like the original G1 figure as opposed to the incorrect pinkish, iridescent color of the first release. (See attached photo for reference.)

 

The new release is still technically incorrect if you want to be a stickler. The G1 version you posted doesn't have painted treads   guess it's an inferior product as well.

 

Ok you win bro, lol... Hey, like several have already stated, if buying more of these figures funds more upcoming releases then screw it! These suckers are like Pokemon, gotta collect 'em all. They're pretty cheap to begin with so I'm all for it.

Definitely agree with you there. So far I've gotten 3 of each set including the scout tapes. Love these things and hope that Dr Wu keeps putting out more.

 

I'll probably go for the new one as I prefer the face and darker greys and I haven't gotten either yet, but I really don't think it's that huge of a difference to be making such a fuss about it.
I also didn't even know they madr a new colour of Squawkbox, and honestly I think I prefer the first one. The muted tones of the new SB don't really integrate with the bright colours of the 88 Decepticons that well.

 

But the fussing is the fun part! It's all love as everyone here is a part of the same fandom/family. It's fun to have mature debates on the forums. I'm simply creating a little controversy in order to breathe a little life into the thread. I love to converse about Transformers and I get excited every time I see a new alert... Am I the only one???

 

It's not "fussing" when the discussion pivots to how a company is being dishonest, greedy, etc.

I just cancelled my BBTS original Sword Dancer order and replaced it with the anime version. Thanks for the heads-up, folks!

 

Hey it's somewhat common practice in any business we're just calling them out on it, it's not that big of a foul so calm down. Even Taco Bell takes a hard and a soft taco shell and slaps refried beans in the middle and gives it a fancy name in order to overcharge you for it. It's just business... Like Dr. Wu said, you can buy it if you like it. If you don't like it then don't buy it and move on. It's not that critical of a thing.

 

Glad I popped in here, as I had the non-anime version POed and would have remained blissfully unaware of the anime version. Canxed the regular version in favor of the slightly darker anime version. Either way, though, it's still a neat set, and I'm glad Dr. Wu is putting these guys out as we'll likely not get them from Hasbro. Heck, we still haven't got Steeljaw or Ramhorn from Hasbro yet. Hoping Wu will get around to doing all the cassette bots w/ improved articulation. Def need a better Ravage in the WFC/legacy scale.

 

I was late to the party on Chatter mostly because I thought HasTak would do their own eventually. When I saw Core Rumble/Frenzy I decided the 3P option was worth not having to wait. So yeah, missed out on the scouts...which look fun.

 

Oh yeah, I'll buy any WfC-/Legacy-sized mini-cassettes Dr Wu sells. I suspect we'll get a new/heavy retool Ravage in the SS86 line, along with Ramhorn and Steeljaw, but I'll buy the Dr Wu versions too especially if they come in easy redecos (like a blue Ramhorn, a black Steeljaw, a blue or green Ravage, etc.)

 

My set arrived from Show Z today!

First time ordering from them and they included a faction sheet?! Not sure sure if it was a mistake or not, but I am super happy with it and will be putting a sticker on my figure! Also packed super securely also for just one small item!

Highly recommend Show Z and will be using them more!

You should still be able to find the scouts on ebay at least, I only recently got the inverted colors one from ebay (red roller scout and blue flying scout).

 

That's gonna go out the window now that Deathsaurus has blown up my budget for the year.

 

I just got the black and silver versions of the scouts from an ebay seller for $25 free shipping. I also have slamdance in black and silver. Think they will look great as a set.
