This was intended to be my entry for Sector 70's Triplechanger Challenge, but I lost steam on him (and Starcraft 2 came out - not at all coincidental, I assure you...) He's being built using a wide variety of parts, namely a Universe Countdown, Animated Ultra Magnus, a knock off oversized G1 Doubledealer, G1 Skylynx, Beast Wars Tigerhawk, Armada Megatron, Masterpiece Starscream, and a 1/100 RGM Gundam model. And maybe some G1 Trypticon. We'll see. Cheers. - Alty
Get on it, boy! Oddly, Doubledealer was a favorite of mine as a kid. I've always enjoyed doppelganger characters, and he came out during a time when TFs were fading rapidly here. I think Alty is gonna do him justice We needs more DD customs *looks up*
Thanks for all of the interest! Here are a few more photos for everyone, detailing the wing assembly better. I wanted to show the articulation that I built into them. Although you might not be able to tell from these pictures, the wings pivot forward and backward as well. I should have said earlier that the vulture's wings collapse in transformation and become the back end of the missile truck (i.e. the 'box' mode you've seen already). The missile itself will be mounted on the wing assembly in missile truck mode, as well as supporting it in robot mode (kind of like a back pack, more or less). Cheers, fellas. - Alty
The head you posted earlier reminds me more of Astrotrain than Doubleclouder. Do you plan on changing that?
No, I don't. I based the look of the head on IDW's Doubledealer as he appeared in his Spotlight issue, not Doubleclouder. - Alty
I originally thought the head designs were the same for DD and DC, with just the color schemes setting them apart, but that was just for the G1 toy. When I think of this character, I think more of what I saw in the Masterforce series as Doubleclouder. They differ more in other media (anime, comics, toy commercials), which explains the Astrotrain-like head.
I should clarify. I'm not building Doubleclouder. I only mentioned him because of the challenge it would be to bash a triple-changing Powermaster. That's about the only thing from Doubleclouder I am incorporating into this project. My biggest references have been IDW's Spotlight issue and my own G1 DD toy. - Alty
