well thats.... a little bit of a let down :p

although i suppose i shouldnt've gotten my hopes TOO high

combined mode looks stiff and i REALLY dont like the truck arms in the stand-alone bot mode

    HOWEVER

I do like some of the aesthetics of the design and the silhouette of it all. That thing would look pretty sick fully realized and articlated [big wings and all! i love that]

I don't like the "Popeye" arms. And the trailer kibble at the back looks so awkward.

This is one of those times when I really wonder what HasTak employees think of the toy they've made. Is this really how they intended it to look from the beginning?

I wonder if Hasbro will continue the recent trend for in-package robot modes? :D

To me, it's disappointing because it's just so uncreative. The armor turns pretty much into a jetback and boots, just like Jetfire did. The molding is crap, and to me doesn't look too much different from the Armada Optimus in terms of engineering. You pretty much just pop him in the armor and you're done.
I was hoping that it would be mostly an actual suit of armor, with a small jetback on the back. What we got is just stupid and clunky looking, and not easy on the eyes at all. The paint is awful, the sculpting just looks cartoony to me, and the detail is...well it just isn't there.

I bought Devastator, but only because I was able to modify him and make him much better. With this Optimus, it looks like modifying it just wouldn't be worth the effort. Despite all of the people that bashed Devastator, I could at least tell that he had the potential to be awesome. With this, I just don't get that feeling at all.

And as others have said, Hasbro can just overall do better. The ROTF Leader Prime is an amazing example of that, and it seems like such a waste of potential that this toy is more focused on size and gimmicks rather than new engineering and impressive detail. Hasbro already HAS the perfect Optimus Prime, and it's a great example of what they're capable of when they put some good effort into it. Would it really have been that hard to just take that Leader Optimus and throw in a trailer that turns into armor for it? Hell, look at Jetfire. They managed to make that turn from robot, to jet, AND a suit of armor for Optimus. Is it perfect? No. But you can tell that some good effort was put into it at least.

I'm glad that the armor at least looks better in the movie, it's just a shame that Hasbro skimped out when it came to the toy.

looks alot better than the voyager one and is worth the price imo. his armor reminds me of a backwards g1 ultra magnus put on the body style.

I'm personally a bit disappointed when it comes to the new DOTM figs we've been seeing...I almost feel like some of these toys are just a part of some cruel practical joke on the part of Hasbro. To me, the characters look amazing on the big screen, but they do not translate very well into action figures. I know we've had some really nice Bayformers over the years, but as a whole, nothing overly remarkable. On the flip side, this means that there is going to be more rescources on my end avaliable for Classics/Generations, TF Prime, Masterpiece, and 3rd party, as I won't have to buy any of the DOTM stuff.

Oi. Hasbro, you had a legitimate chance to top your RotF Leader Prime and you wasted it on this? What a shame. If they skipped doing another Leader class figure for this, then that third Leader better be fan-fucking-tastic.

that looks hilariously crap. post BB Prime and leader ROTF prime we get... this. wow. my main problem is that it doesnt look like a fun toy. Devestator looked fun, if inaccurate to what we wanted. this just ticks ALL the wrong boxes.
